Abstract
A system for the issue of equipment such as shopping trolleys, deck-chairs, or sporting equipment, in which the customer has to insert coins for the release of the equipment and also further coins as a returnable deposit, so as to encourage the return of the equipment after use; the equipment is retained by a lock (15) which is released by a coin mechanism (11) which includes a collection box to hold at least one coin as a returnable deposit, with a coin distributor which feeds the appropriate coins on insertion partly to the box to hold the deposit against the return of the equipment and partly to a retention cash box.
