Abstract

The present invention is in the field of kit of parts and a box comprising said kit of parts intended for serving a num— ber of drinks, typically including glasses, cups, bottles, etc., which are exposed to situations wherein the drinks may fall over. Such may happen especially in crowded environments, such as bars and festivals, and when unexpected events occur.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is in the field of kit of parts anda box comprising said kit of parts intended for serving a num-ber of drinks, typically including glasses, cups, bottles,etc., which are exposed to situations wherein the drinks mayfall over. Such may happen especially in crowded environments,such as bars and festivals, and when unexpected events occur.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

When serving drinks typically a number of drinks is put ona service tray. Occasionally more than one order, of variousnot related customers, is put on the tray and served in onego. Many beverages, and also other to be served goods, assnacks, cake, pie, can be on a tray.

The serving is typically done by carrying the tray on onehand, in the air. The fingers and thumb are used to supportthe tray and to manoeuvre tray. Some misbalance may occur, butthat can typically be corrected, albeit possibly at the ex-pense of some spilling of especially drinks.

In crowded environments, and in the case of unexpectedevents, the tray may tumble over. Such may be caused by diffi-cult manoeuvring, people bumping in to a waiter, unexpectedobstacles, etc. Typically some chinaware may get broken, andthe floor and possibly more will get wet. As a consequence atleast some cleaning activity has to be performed.

When serving is done typically trays may need to bestacked, such as before re-using and cleaning, especially inview of limited space available. Thereto trays are oftenslightly tapered.

Some solutions form improving stability relate to provi-sion of grips and the like on a bottom side of the tray. Thesegrips are typically rather voluminous and require manual grip-ping .

The present invention therefore relates to a kit of partsand a box comprising said kit of parts intended for serving anumber of drinks, which solves one or more of the above prob-lems and drawbacks of the prior art, providing reliable re-sults, without jeopardizing functionality and advantages.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention therefore relates to a kit of partsand a box comprising said kit of parts intended for serving anumber of drinks and so on. The kit comprises a service trayand a glove. At the one hand the kit of parts in use preventstipping, or spilling, or tumbling over, or a combinationthereof. On the other hand, when removing the glove from thetray, the trays can still be stacked. In addition only oneglove needs to be provided as in use the glove can be worn allthe time, when switching trays, or performing other tasks. Inorder to form a firm fixation the tray is provided, at a bot-tom side thereof, with an area 11 comprising a first mechani-cal based fastener 10. The area 11 preferably follows a cir-cumference of the tray, at a certain distance thereof, or mayhave a relatively simple geometry, such as square, rectangu-lar, circular, multigonal, or combinations thereof. This firstmechanical fastener can be attached to the tray with an adhe-sive or the like, such as a pressure sensitive adhesive. Asthe trays may need to be stacked the fastener has limitedheight, preferably a maximum height of < 5mm. In view ofstacking an area 12 at an edge of the tray is not providedwith the first fastener. The tray has at a top side thereof araised edge 13 provided substantially over the edge of thetray, typically to secure a safe transport. The present glove20 provided with at least one area comprising a second mechan-ical based fastener 24 compatible with fastener 10 such thatthe second fastener of the glove can be removably attached tothe first fastener. The second fastener may be attached to theglove by an adhesive, such as a pressure sensitive adhesive,may be incorporated in the glove, or may be firmly attached tothe glove, such as by stitching it thereon. As the force forattaching is not to big typically, the glove in use can be re-moved easily from the tray, and work may continue. It istherefore an object of the invention to overcome one or morelimitations of the devices of the prior art and to improvesuch.

In a second aspect the present invention relates to boxcomprising the present kit of parts, such as a carton box.

Advantages of the present description are detailedthroughout the description.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts theservice tray may have a cross sectional shape selected fromcircular, ellipsoidal, square, rectangular, and multigonal,such as trigonal, pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal, and oc-tagonal .

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts thearea (11) may cover 50-90% of a tray bottom area (15), such as60-75%. It is an advantage to cover a large part of the bottomwith the mechanical fastener, such that the first and secondmechanical fastener can be attached in virtually all occa-sions. Thereto preferably a central part of the bottom of thetray is provided with the first mechanical fastener. Espe-cially as typically fingers and thumb are used to provide astable transport, these digits are located around a centralpart of the tray, typically around a centre of mass pointthereof .

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts thefirst mechanical fastener (10) may be a hook or loop type fas-tener. An example thereof is a velcro. These types of mechani-cal fasteners are found to provide a good and firm attachment,whereas they glove can still be released easily.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts theheight of the fastener may be 0.5-2 mm. The fastener is pref-erably relatively thin in order to provide for stacking of thetrays. In addition a stack of trays is preferably relativelystable .

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts thearea (12) may have a width of 1-10 mm, such as 2-5 mm. Thewidth void of the first fastener is preferably not too small,in order to allow stacking, and not too large, in order to al-low a firm attachment of the two fasteners in virtually allcases .

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts theraised edge (13) may have a height of 5-50 mm, such as 10-30mm, and a width of 1-10 mm, such as 2-5 mm. The edge, or ridge, is preferably not too high, in view of stacking etc.,and preferably not too low, in order to provide some stabilityfor chinaware and the like.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts thetray may be adapted to be stacked. Such is an important bene-fit, in view of regular use of the tray and minimal space con-sumed by the stack.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts thesecond mechanical fastener (24) may be a hook or loop typefastener. An example thereof is a velcro.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts theglove (20) may be a left hand glove, a right hand glove, or auniversal glove. Depending on the preference of a user a rightor left hand glove may be used, and likewise, such as if aglove is used by more than one person, a universal glove maybe used.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts thetray may comprise an image at a top side thereof. Also thetray may comprise a fluorescent or phosphorescent coating,such as covering a part of the tray, such as the edge. Alsothe tray may comprise at least one light source, such as aLED. As such the tray can be made more attractive.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts theglove may comprise an image at a top side thereof. In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts thetop side of the tray may be provided with an elastomer barrier(19) for preventing liquid flow over the edge, wherein a widthof the barrier is 0.5-2 mm. This barrier is found to be veryuseful to prevent spillage or spill over, which typically is anuisance and may lead to wet clothing. A simple relativelysmall barrier is found to be sufficient to prevent such spill-age. In addition the trays can still be stacked, especiallywhen the barrier is made from an elastomer, such as syntheticor natural rubber.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts theraised edge (13) may extend outwards, such as 2-10 mm out-wards, i.e. has a slightly tapered structure. Such a taperedstructure improves stacking.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts atleast two sheaths of the glove may be provided with the secondmechanical fastener, wherein the sheath for receiving thethumb is provided with the second mechanical fastener, prefer-ably all sheaths. In principle two or three sheaths are foundto be sufficient for a good stability and firm attachment. Inuse however it is found that users refer to have all sheathsbeing provided with a fastener, especially the little fingerand the thumb.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts asize of the at least one area comprising a second mechanicalbased fastener may each individually be 1-10 cm2, such as2-5 cm2. This relatively small area is found to be sufficient.

In an exemplary embodiment of the present kit of parts afull area at one side of the glove may be provided with thesecond mechanical based fastener. In view of manufacturing afull area may be advantageous, though it is found to be lesscomfortable .

The invention will hereafter be further elucidated throughthe following examples which are exemplary and explanatory ofnature and are not intended to be considered limiting of theinvention. To the person skilled in the art it may be clearthat many variants, being obvious or not, may be conceivablefalling within the scope of protection, defined by the presentclaims .

Figure la shows the present tray comprising first mechani-cal based fastener 10, wherein the fastener has a maximumheight of < 5mm, and wherein an area 12 at an edge of the trayis not provided with the fastener, at a top side thereof araised edge 13 provided substantially over the edge of thetray, wherein the area 11 covers 50-90% of a tray bottom area 15. The first fastener is provided in a relatively regular andsymmetrical pattern.

Claims

A set of parts comprising a tray (100), comprising a tray (11) on its underside comprising a first mechanically based fastener (10), the fastener having a maximum height of <5 mm, and wherein a area (12) is provided with the fastening means on one edge of the blade, on an upper side thereof an upright edge (13) which is provided substantially over the edge of the blade, a glove (20) provided with at least one area around comprising a second mechanically based fastener (24) that is compatible with the fastener (10) such that the glove can be removably fastened.

The set of parts of claim 1, wherein the tray has a cross-sectional shape selected from circular, elliptical, square, rectangular, and multigonal, such as trigonal, pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal, and octagonal.

A set of parts according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the area (11) occupies 50-90% of a bottom area of a tray (15), such as 60-75%.

A kit of parts according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the first mechanical fastener (10) is a hook or loop type fastener.

The set of parts according to claim 4, wherein the height of the fastener is 0.5-2 mm.

A set of parts according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the area (12) has a width of 1-10 mm, such as 2-5 mm.
