Abstract

The invention relates to a package for flowers and / or plants.

It is known that for packaging flowers and / or plants a large variety of packaging means is available, such as foils, sheets and covers, printed or not.

However, continuous packaging is desirable to package such floriculture products in a way that is attractive to the public.

The invention contemplates an alternative package for flowers and / or plants. To that end, the package according to the invention comprises a frame and a covering carried by the frame, wherein the frame is at least partially manually deformable for receiving the flowers and / or plants.

By realizing a frame that carries a covering and is manually at least partially deformable, packaging has been obtained that looks entirely different from conventional films, sheets and / or covers since the packaging can be deformed by hand to a position desired by the user, while the covering takes care of surrounding at least a part of the flowers and / or plants. An alternative package 20 is thus obtained which can cause a distinctive appearance on the public.

It is noted that US patent publications US 3,306,675 and US 4,807,393 describe a wire-reinforced covering for the sideways and underside surrounded of a soil with tree roots.

It is further noted that the German patent publication DE 90 15 430 describes a frame that is covered with material for surrounding a root ball.

Advantageously, the package is deformed in a carrying position into a receiving cavity for receiving the flowers and / or plants, so that a part of the flowers and / or plants, for example stems of the flowers and / or stems of the plants, can easily be included in the package in order to maintain sufficient grip on the flowers and / or plants and to prevent unwanted movement of the flowers and / or plants from the package. However, it is also possible to use a differently deformable frame, for example with hinged elements, so that a more robust whole can be obtained.

Preferably the coating comprises a woven, preferably natural fabric, so that a certain authentic and environmentally friendly appearance is obtained, certainly if the fabric is coarse woven. The covering can of course also be designed differently, for example with a foil, cardboard or paper material.

Figure 1 shows a schematic view of a wire frame 1 for forming a package according to the invention. The wire frame 1 is shown in a flat position and comprises a cross-shaped profile 2 with an intersection point 3, and an edge profile 4 that at least partially surrounds the cross-section profile 2.

In the embodiment shown, the edge profile 4 completely encloses the cross profile 2. However, it is also possible to divide the edge profile 4 into a multiple number of elements which together at least partially surround the cross-shaped profile. Furthermore, the edge profile 4 can be substantially 4 circular, elliptical or otherwise shaped, for example square. It is noted that instead of a cross-shaped profile 2, a different type of profile can also be used, for example an H-shaped profile.

The embodiment with the cross section 2 and the edge section 4 provides a manually deformable frame 1 that is lightweight, comprises a minimum of material, is inexpensive and can be manufactured simply and quickly. For example, different wire segments that form the profiles can be easily attached to each other.

The wire frame 1 is preferably made from an iron wire, so that a particularly low cost can be realized.

It is noted that the wire frame 1 has such a stiffness that the whole can be deformed by hand from the flat position to a bearing position, while the package can nevertheless retain that shape autonomously, preferably also when flowers and / or plants are included.

Figure 2 shows the wire frame 1 with a tailor-made covering 5 made of woven fabric. Furthermore, Figure 3 shows the wire frame 1 with the covering 5 attached to the edge profile 4, so that the covering 5 is supported by the wire frame 1 and displacement 20 relative to the wire frame 1 is prevented.

It is noted that the covering 5 can also be attached otherwise to the wire frame 1, for example to the cross section 2. The attachment is realized by means of a sewing operation. Of course, other fixing methods are also applicable, such as glueing, clamping, stapling and / or sealing techniques.

Figure 4 shows the wireframe 1 with a wave pattern arranged in the edge profile 4. The wire frame 1 is then brought from the flat position to the bearing position with a manual deformation, the package forming a receiving cavity. In the bearing position, the wave pattern is substantially located in a sphere shell B which has the intersection 3 of the cross-section 2 as its center. The pattern of the edge profile 4 thus wavy gives the package a decorative view, as shown in Figure 5, in which flowers are received in the receiving cavity formed in the package. Figure 6 shows a second schematic perspective view of the package.

It is noted that the wave pattern can also be realized in some other way, for instance such that in the carrying position of the package the radial distance to the intersection point 3 of the cross section 2 varies when the edge profile 4 passes through.

It is further noted that deformation of the package from the flat position to the carrying position does not necessarily have to take place manually. Said distortion can in principle also be achieved by machine. It is also possible to opt for no wave pattern in the edge profile 4 at all.

The invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment described here. Many variations are possible.

For example, the covering can be of a uniform design or be provided with a print, for instance for the purpose of certain holidays, such as Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Easter or Christmas, or be provided with an operation and / or printing with, for example, a logo or corporate identity for advertising purposes.

In addition to a wire frame, the frame can also comprise a rigid frame segment, for example for forming a handle.

Furthermore, operations for manufacturing the package can be exchanged. The edge profile can thus be brought into a wave pattern before the covering is attached to the wire frame.
