Description
ASSEMBLY FOR SUPPLY OF FUEL, FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to an assembly for fuel supply, for supplying fuel to interchangeable injection pumps, mounted in cavities of the pump receiving engine block through passages for fuel supply, which extend through the housing of engine cylinders. DE 4326162 Cl discloses this assembly for fuel supply with passages for fuel supply arranged in the engine housing of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, including a longitudinal main fuel passage and branching passages that derive the main passage. Each branching passage leads to a receiving cavity wherein an interchangeable pump associated with a particular cylinder is disposed. At the level where the branching passage is joined to the receiving cavity, the exchangeable pump includes an annular groove, through which the pump is in communication with the branching passage, to receive fuel therefrom. It is the object of the present invention to provide a simple fuel supply assembly, by which the fuel can be supplied to the interchangeable pumps and where the interchangeable pumps can be fixed in position in the perforations for pump reception in a simple and economic The assembly for fuel supply should be particularly suitable for interchangeable pumps with electromagnetic control valves. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In a fuel supply assembly for interchangeable fuel pumps, arranged in receiving cavities in the in-line cylinder cylinder housing for an internal combustion engine, a passageway for main fuel supply, extends through of the cylinder housing adjacent to the receiving cavities for the interchangeable pumps. Branching passages extend from the main fuel passageway and are in alignment with respective fuel passages in the interchangeable pump, and sleeves arranged in the fuel passages of the interchangeable pumps and received in the branching passages formed in the cylinder housing , interchangeably assemble and position the interchangeable pumps with respect to the cylinder housing. By special arrangement of the passages for fuel supply in the interface area between the cylinder housing and the upper part of the interchangeable pump housing, the interchangeable pump is fixed in position in the receiving hole and the fuel passage connection It seals securely. At the same time, as the position of the exchangeable pump is fixed in the receiving hole, a passage connection for fuel supply is made by which fuel can be supplied to the exchangeable pump. Further, by the particular position of the sleeve, which is disposed with one end of the cylinder housing and with the other in the exposed pump housing part, the seal ring surrounding the sleeve is protected from the extremely high fuel pressures generated. at the pump. An embodiment of the invention will be described below, based on the accompanying drawings. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Figure 1 is a cross-sectional view of a cylinder housing of a multi-cylinder engine with an interchangeable pump. Figure 2 is an enlarged view showing the exchangeable pump and Figure 3 is a partial view of the cylinder housing of the internal combustion engine. DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED MODE Figures 1 and 3 show a cylinder housing 1 of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine 2, with cylinders 3 that are arranged in line and with receiving cavities 4 in the cylinder housing 1, for receiving exchangeable pumps, controlled with electromagnetic valves 5. Each interchangeable pump 5 associated with a cylinder 3, comprises a pump part with the housing 6 that includes a pump piston 7 and an operating part with a rocker with rollers loaded to spring 10, which is operated by a cam 8, cam axis 9 and cooperating with the piston of the pump 7. The pump portion and the operating part are combined in one unit by an elongated sleeve 11 (Figure 2) which is receives in the receiving cavity 4. The receiving cavity 4 comprises spaced sections 4a, 4b. The upper cavity section 4a receives the lower area of the pump housing 6, while the lower cavity section 4b receives the sleeve 11 with the operating part. In the sleeve 11, the rocker arm with rollers 10 is arranged in such a way that it moves axially against the force of a rocker arm with rollers 12. The sleeve 12 is provided with a key, which is received in a slot-like guide. 10a on the rocker 10, whereby the rocker 10 is kept in its angular position and also kept inside the sleeve, so that the rocker with rollers can not fall out of the sleeve 11, when the interchangeable pump 5 is removed from the rocker 10. the receiving cavity 4. The lower part of the pump housing 6 which is disposed in the receiving bore 4, is stepped and has a larger diameter portion 6a disposed in the upper cavity section 4a, which is provided with two rings of seal 13, 14 extending in spaced relationship about the pump housing portion 6a. The smallest diameter portion 6b is part of the sleeve 11, which is firmly connected to the housing portion 6a. A pressure shoulder 15, formed in the pump housing 6, engages the upper face 29 of the sleeve 11. The exposed portion of the pump housing 6 projects from the receiving pierce 4, and includes an electromagnetic valve 16 to control the flow of fuel to the fuel lines to an injector. The interchangeable pump is positioned in such a way that its longitudinal axis a and the cylinder axis b define an approximate angle of 10 ° between them. The longitudinal axis a, extends essentially normal to the axis c of the cam shaft 9, but is displaced therefrom by a distance x against the direction of movement of the surface of the cam 8 at the point of contact with the rocker with curlers 10. The direction of rotation of the cam shaft 9 as illustrated in Figure 1 is counterclockwise such that the roller 17 of the roller arm acts as a cam follower with an automatically stabilizing orientation.
By the particular positioning and orientation of the interchangeable pump 5 with respect to the cam axis 9, the piston support structures of the pump for each cylinder 3 can be disposed closely adjacent to each other, so that also the cylinders 3 can be arranged close to each other. adjacent to each other (see Figure 3). This arrangement results in weight savings and also in reducing the size of the engine. The housing portion of the exposed pump projecting from the receiving pierce 4 has a housing portion projecting to one side 20. This part of the pump housing and the projection of the housing 20 are arranged on a supporting surface 21 of the cylinder housing 1 extending at a right angle with respect to the longitudinal axis a of the interchangeable pump 5. The projection of the housing 20 includes a fuel passage 22 with a passage section 23 extending parallel to the longitudinal axis a of the exchangeable pump 5 and is arranged in axial alignment with a passage for fuel supply 24 (Figure 2) in the housing of the cylinder 1. The passage for fuel supply 24 branches out of a longitudinal main fuel passage 25, which is extends through the cylinder housing 1 on the side of the interchangeable pumps 5 to supply fuel to the pumps.
The fuel passage section 23 includes a sleeve 26 which is inserted up to a shoulder 27 and fixed in that manner. The portion of the sleeve 26 projecting from the fuel passage portion 23 is received in the fuel supply passage 24 of the cylinder housing 1 to ensure proper alignment of the interchangeable fuel pump 5 in the receiving bore 4. The interchangeable pump 5 is mounted in the cylinder housing 1 by mounting screws 28. The coupling surface 29 of the housing projection 20 opposite the support surface 21 in the cylinder housing 1, is provided with a recess 30. which extends around the sleeve 26 in which a seal ring 31 is received which fits snugly over the sleeve 26 in such a way that it remains in position and is not lost when the exchangeable pump 5 is removed. The sleeve 26 provides in this special form secure communication between the passages for fuel supply in the cylinder housing and the interchangeable fuel pump also protects the seal ring 31 of the high pressures of the system.
