Abstract

Se describe un procedimiento para hacer las superficies de materiales plásticos o de caucho poliméricos, que intrínsecamente no polares o solo ligeramente polares e hidrofobas, polares o más polares e hidrogilas, para que grupos funcionales que contienen amino, y en ultimo caso, un recubrimiento de hidrogel de poliuretano o de poliuretano-urea deslizante, fuertemente adherente y duradero se pueda apilar seguidamente a la superficie del polímero. El procedimiento implica el tratamiento doble con plasma de un material substrato plástico o de caucho polimérico, siendo el primer tratamiento con un gas de plasma que contiene oxígeno, para fijar grupos hidroxilo, carboxilo y carbonilo a la superficie del substrato, haciendo de este modo la superficie más polar y activada; y siendo el segundo tratamiento con un gas de plasma que contiene nitrogeno, para fijar aminas y grupos amino a la superficie del substrato para hacerla más hidrofila y reactiva a los grupos isocianato terminales de una capa de union de un intermedio aducto prepolimérico de poliuretano o poliuretano-urea que se aplica seguidamente a la superficie del substrato y luego se convierte en un recubrimiento de hidrogel deslizante y fuertemente adherido y deslizante. El procedimiento es especialmente adecuado para hidrofilizar materiales plásticos poliméricos intrínsecamente no polares e hidrofobos, tales como poliuretano, nylon-11 y nylo-12.
