Abstract
Se divulgan métodos para la purificación de composiciones crudas que comprenden el éster dimetílico del ácido 2,5-furandicarboxílic o (FDME) u otros derivados de tipo diéster (por ejemplo, derivados de tipo éster dialquílico) del ácido 2,5-furandicarboxílico (FDCA), mediante cristalización. En este sentido, se han descubierto ciertos disolventes y clases de disolventes para fomentar la cristalización selectiva de FDME con respecto a las impurezas que se generan a menudo en su producción mediante la esterificación de FDCA y otros pasos de procesamiento previos. Es importante destacar que ciertas impurezas que se eliminan selectivamente incluyen aquellas que, de otro modo, serían perjudiciales para el color y/o la estabilidad del color de la composición purificada. Otras mejoras en la cristalización residen en el uso de técnicas tales como la extracción de líquido-líquido y el tratamiento previo de la solución de cristalización poniéndola en contacto con un medio sólido.
