Abstract
Un aparato para calentar un artículo tubular alargado, tal como un collar contraíble por calor aplicado alrededor de una junta de tubería soldada durante la construcción de la tubería. El aparato está en la forma de un molde que puede colocarse alrededor del artículo, el molde teniendo un dispositivo calentador que tiene, tanto zonas de calentamiento colocadas longitudinalmente, como sectores de calentamiento colocados radialmente, cada uno de los cuales puede controlarse de manera independiente. Alternativamente, o en combinación, el aparato puede tener un sistema de circulación de aire. También, un método para contraer un collar contraíble por calor que comprende el uso de dicho aparato.
