carpe the f-ing diem

My cousin's wife is getting into palliative care. In her mid 50s, sick for a quite a long time but always with good odds to beat it. Always a positive outlook on life, good people. It is what is is, but that still sucks.
I'm not here for compassion or laments or anything. I'm here to tell you, guys and gals, I'm here to instruct you to enjoy your life, the life you have today. Because tomorrow is not guaranteed to any of us.
Carpe the fucking diem, my friends.
Black sheep for your time :
-
@Darkbrador correct, eat dessert first

@Darkbrador Truth

Double like for Blacksheep -
enjoy your life, the life you have today. Because tomorrow is not guaranteed to any of us.
Yes. Do the things, give the hugs, say the words.
All the best to her, her family, and your whole family.
-
@Darkbrador Even if you have warning it is hard.
Sunday I lost one of my few friends from elementary school to ALS. Wife, two teenage daughters and about 5 vespas in various states of repair or restoration.
Hug the important ones, ignore those who want to bring you down and do all the things now I guess.
Turkey on my front lawn for your time:
-
@JeRC1500 I'm sorry to hear that.
Time to get into Vespas yourself (I have three in my shop, I can help)
Also, your front lawn has a roof-like slopped wall ?
-
@Darkbrador The Vespas are in Olakland (I grew up in the Bay Area in CA) so not so easy to transport back here to MN. Trust me, it crossed my mind to bring one here and I appreciate the offer to help but I don't see it happening and I am pretty sure his wife and kids are not in a place to discuss it. We were expecting more time.
Turkey is against the brick wall to my neighbor's front door steps, behind us is a drop-off to train tracks and a highway so the turkeys go up and down the hill all the time.
-
@JeRC1500 I know, it was a poorly timed joke, completely out of line.
Now hear me out : a cross country ride on a Vespa ...
(too early)
-
And this is what happens when you don't seize it well enough

how I choose to live my life as best I can! Every time someone is surprised at how I find the time to ski as much as I do without living near a mountain, this is basically my response. Its just a matter of money, I can always make more of that with enough effort.
-
@Darkbrador Taking a Vespa over the Sierra Nevadas OR the Rocky Mountains sounds terrifying going up and equally but differently terrifying going down.
You may be onto something. He would have approved

Wasn't sure about posting this, but I got a call last night about my stepfather passing. We'd been estranged for over a decade, but I give him a lot of credit for dealing with 3 teenagers and getting us through school and into college after my mom passed. I'd hoped he would reach back out at some point, but that ship has now sailed. Seize the carp indeed...

For all my Gen Z opponaughts, YOLO.

-
@bbg2d I’m sorry for your loss. Carpe indeed.

-
@Darkbrador thanks

Sorry, guys. Really sorry.
Also: In the end… We only regret the chances we didn’t take, the relationships we were afraid to have, and the decisions we waited too long to make. Attributed to Lewis Carroll.
Admittedly we may not feel too hot about certain things we did, either, but surely it is far worse leaving this world wondering "what if".
