The lighthouse is located on the south end of Campobello Island on the Lubec Narrows which separate Campobello from the U.S. mainland. The octagonal wooden tower standing 44 feet high was built in 1884 and had a continuous white light. The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1963 when the nearby Franklin D, Roosevelt Memorial Bridge was built and the bridge lights supplanted the need for a lighthouse.
