Imo, it's one of those "must see" anime besides Death Note, FMA, Natsume Yuujinchou, Non Non Biyori, and Yuru Camp for example. Sure, people have different tastes, but anyway.

So you were a long time anime fan and yet you never heard of MAL until a few years ago. If you had a Crunchyroll account, then somebody would've told you about MAL during the same time you had CR. I have a CR profile too (had that profile since 2006) until CR went premium, and yet I still know about MAL somewhere in 2009/early 2010 and then I registered for it. I find that hard to believe that you didn't know about MAL until a few years ago and now you just registered for it this year.



Uh, I hate to say this but MAL forum was more active in late 2000's and 2010's then now. I know because I was on this forum during that time and it was way more active there back then.

That happens a lot on many forum, anime/manga is no exception. Any fandom you are in, there will be a lot of elitism, that comes with the territory of being in the fandom, anime/manga no exception.

I hate to ask, but according to your MAL profile, you were born in the 60's!!! Really??? How come you didn't get a MAL profile like some decades ago like back in 2000's, or early 2010's? I had this MAL profile since 2010, and I've been a anime fan since 2006 (although I was exposed to anime at a very young age). This is not meant as an insult to you, but I find that hard to believe that you didn't get a MAL profile back then.

I think Fate was one of the first shows I watched back in 2020 when I started watching anime - so it being a convoluted mess of a timeline honestly became part of the endearing charm for me.

Nothing like heroes of justice, bone of my sword, pseudo-intellectual conversations about idealism and cute girly boys.

But Steins Gate is an absolute modern classic - not seen Link Click... another I've never seen is Erased as I've heard mixed things. But Steins Gate was absolutely one of if not the best time travel shows I've seen.

Psycho Pass is a truly great police procedural mix with dystopia and a little bit of philosophy to get the brain pumping. Gen Urobuchi who also wrote Fate/Zero and Madoka Magica was the led writer so if you liked those ones then you'll certainly like Psycho Pass.

Fate was originally created by Kinoku Nasu and Takauchi Takashi and then other writers add to it, working alongside Nasu. So Fate/Zero it was Urobuchi, Apocrypha it was Yūichirō Higashide, and Strange Fake is from the same guy who made Baccano and Durarura - Ryōgo Narita.
