As a vegan, this anime was a difficult watch, but I decided to put my personal beliefs aside and try and give it a shot.
The story as stated, is about a city boy who enters an agricultural school and develops culture shock as he discovers a totally different view of life. Everyone is connected to their buisness, their families, and their farms. Over time, Hachiken develops bonds with the other students and learns new skills, often struggling and complaining about the chores and work load in a comedic fashion. Hachiken also struggles with his own morality as he is faced with the cruel reality of
...
agriculture - the death of the farmed animals.
A few things I appreciate about this anime..
The music is memorable and fits the mood. The opening and ending songs are catchy songs with farm-like feels. The soundtrack is beautiful and it often fits the different themes, there were times I got emotional during the sad moments of the story due to the aura of the music. It is very good.
The art style is also unique; all the characters are uniquely drawn with different features. It can sometimes feel like anime characters are drawn too generically, and they all have to be thin and attractive. Silver Spoon helps express people in a variety of different shapes, sizes and personalities. I really enjoyed that aspect of the anime and it allows it to keep it memorable. The animals are also drawn super cute!
I found the story to be quite straight forward and realistic to how agricultural families view their livelihood. Silver spoon definitely sums up the farm life and the farm student life super well. Sneaking out, playing with friends, falling off horses, dealing with animal slaughter, they were all things presented quite realistically to a sense. Although I appreciate that the anime presents factory farming as an existing reality in today's age, it is a very sanitized version. Realistically, the conditions are a lot worse and you can easily find real undercover videos that illustrate the corruption in these industries. But I suppose they had to show it in the most refreshing, wholesome farm feel where no animals are sick, dying or clearly shown to be incredibly distressed. There was no slaughterhouse footage either of 'Pork Bowl' and the other 'retired' animals such as the race horses or dairy cows, not suprisingly.
Fun fact: Tamako Inada is also like an anime version of Gina Rinehart. No doubt.
What I didn't like about the anime was Hachiken's quick change of heart simply through eating food. When he is faced with the dilemma of meat and where animal products come from; he quickly dismisses his pesky sense of morality and has an almost orgasm when he consumes the animal flesh, I know anime likes to exagerrates people's reactions but c'mon...he was so disgusted and sad and had such as sudden change of mind through eating! It was probably very troublesome for him to give up Pork Bowl, and fighting for Pork Bowl in such a strong farming community would probably give him a lot more trouble then he wanted; seeing as he had little family support anyway. It's a comforting notion that he wants to 'respect' the animals 'sacrifice' but also incredibly hypocritical - the animal is just going to be shitted out by you anyway so where is the respect there? He was so empathetic to Pork Bowl that he would hug him teary eyed but the next minute it was time for Pork Bowl to be cooked and eaten. Cognitive dissonance exists even in anime, it seems.
Needless to say, I think this anime is important to get a simple sense of farm life - especially the sense of community and family that comes along with the lifestyle and that aspect is very enjoyable. However, it does seem a bit sanitized for the sake of being a wholesome slice of life anime. I hope Silver Spoon broadens your eyes a bit wider and allows you to make your own decisions on what is important and what is not.

Naruto as a series, is an incredibly complicated masterpiece. Assuming the person reading this has first finished the original Naruto series of our blond haired hero in his trademark Orange tracksuit, I will give a quick summary of some of the critiques I have of this series and what to look forward to in this next amazing sequel.
First of all, the soundtrack remains iconic and amazing. The openings remain catchy and the soundtrack is both epic and marvelous. It tends to move away from the very fast-paced Japanese sounding instrumentals of the first series and enters into hymn and choir territory, especially with relevance
...
to characters of God-like status relating to the plotline.
Naruto shippuden is a very lore based series, and relates more towards philosophy and morality then the first series ever did. The battles are long, the speeches are longer. I assume Creator Kishimoto wanted his viewers to age up with the anime, beginning to question things they never did as a child. Therefore, expect the anime to become very complex and confusing at some points.
Unfortunately, The loveable Konoha side characters that we independently learned and watched fight in the Chuunin exams and Sasuke retrieval Arc have a lesser role in the sequel. New characters and plot lines are introduced and many shinobis are cast to the side lines. The sequel is very much about focusing Sasuke and Naruto's bond and Naruto's own personal character development..
I would argue that the young shinobis still have much relevance, but less screen time in the main storyline as it progresses.
The meme of 'NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARUTOOOOOOO' and 'SASUUUUUUUUUUKEH' is pretty much relevant to the series as Naruto fights further to bring Sasuke back to the village. ^_^
The new characters, especially the Akatsuki characters throughout the story, are super interesting and unique, so look out for them. They are all powerful individual shinobi with incredibly unique designs and jutsus. I found them to be the most enjoyable of the series and I hope the reader does too!
Naruto Shippuden may not have the carefree, often comedic, nostalgic attitude of the first series main storyline, but it still provides a much enjoyable series and definitely a fantastic must see sequel to the first series to finally get a sense of closure.
I have repeatedly stated the 'main storyline' through out this review, because if you thought the fillers of the first series was bad after the Sasuke retrieval arc...then I have news for you. There is a lot of filler. If you only care about the story and not the alternative universes or random plot lines, you may want to stick to the main story line and skip the filler episodes, however some of the fillers I'd suggest keeping a look out for - especially the alternative universe ones, as they give an interesting opposite perspective to the main canon universe. Just try not to get jealous if the alternative universe seems more...idealic then the real world, blood thirsty shinobi world..that was my trap of watching them! I wanted things to be different! ^_^''
I hope you enjoy Naruto as much as the rest of us do, and watch our snarky, smart-mouthed Kyuubi protagonist manifest and develop into an amazing, strong-willed character with all his comrades behind him as he fights for what he believes to be right and true. Dattebayo!

If I had to sum up this anime in two words that would be - missed potential.
Diabolik lovers has wonderful artwork and soundtrack, and relatively interesting characters, however the story felt incredibly incomplete. The main character has little to no character development whatsoever, preventing the series from growing to an satisfying extent. Yui is an adorable and kind character, however her naivete is incredibly frustrating and the reason why this anime has many bad reviews. Her inability to grow was incredibly frustrating to the viewer.
Unfortunately, the lack of character development made the story incredibly dull and predictable. Yui wakes up, wonders where
...
she is, one of the vampire brothers appears and mocks her, then drinks her blood. The same repetition happening again and again with vague hints of character development and hidden storylines mixed in - but never explored to the extent needed to make sense. The vampires and Yui's backstories are also vague.
The male vampires were interesting. Their abusive behaviour cannot be justified, but understandable, in the sense that they loathe humanity and view humans as only livestock. Although, as stated earlier, there were hints of some sympathy from the vampires in different situations for Yui.
It felt like throughout the series the vampire brothers just needed some persuasion, something from the main character besides her blood to create a better plotline. Unfortunately, Yui's fragile status and personality made it impossible for there to be any true connection between her and the brothers. She had no outside support, and had no self defense training, rendering her a useless blood bag.
Therefore, in the end. This anime has interesting characters, soundtrack, and artwork, but an incredibly cliche and dull story with no development. Best to stick with fanfics if you want any reprieve from this terrible script.
