"Why '6'? Why did you only give it a score of 6? " is what you are probably thinking right now. (Especially, if you are a fan of this series)
I followed Last Game from the VERY BEGINNING of its serialization. I then got updated on its chapters like a student waiting for a vacation, suspension of classes and early dismissals of profs. ( In literal sense, it means I really liked Last Game )
Let's talk about the manga.
Last Game is about a guy named Yanagi who was very proud of himself because his family is rich af. Then, a girl named Kujou enters the

My friend recommended this manga to me, so I decided to check it out. I thought I would really enjoy this manga, but I actually wanted to punch my computer screen half (if not most) of the time as I was reading this. I feel like I'm one of the few that don't actually enjoy this manga.
STORY: The story is nothing special. It's nothing that I haven't seen before and it's not really my cup of tea. If you've read S.A, you will find the story line really similar to that (not saying that it's the same, just the same general idea). It's REALLY predictable, ... Aug 24, 2016
After having read the reviews to this manga, I thought I'd give it a try and see if it were as good as people said. But all it gave me was a massive headache.
The story is cliche, the protagonists start off as rivals then slowly start developing feelings for each other. And by slowly, I mean painfully slowly. It's as if the author didn't know how to fill 50 chapters so she just used the typical, over-used scenario where the main character is completely unaware of her feelings and everyone else's. Even if they spelled it out for her, she still didn't get it. So ... Mar 6, 2021

Story 6/10 So, I actually thought I was going to rate this lower! At the beginning, I wasn't seeing a very original story...popular guy smitten by loner/smart girl and she is completely oblivious to his feelings. I do not understand how someone could be as oblivious to love and romance as Kuojo. Sure, she might not have had experience with it herself, but she probably has seen a movie or two, a TV show, read a book about it...I mean, she was not raised in a jungle! I don't think it was realistic the amount of time it took her to realize her feelings ... Mar 23, 2019
In short: the most frustration you can experience in 11 volumes. Even the ending doesn't make up for how ridiculously slow every. single. other. chapter dragged on. Everything that this series accomplishes could probably have been easily done in half the number of volumes... or even 1/4th.
I think this series might be geared towards individuals who may have never experience romance before. But if you have liked another human being even once in your life, you would know that Kujou's character and personality is far too exaggerated and unrealistic. That was probably the biggest turn-off for me reading the entire series - watching her fumble ... Sep 20, 2015
I've tried multiple times to get into this anime. Last Game currently sits in one of the top spots for "Hot" shoujo manga on many sites and its popularity always entices me to try again. I think this is my last attempt with it, though.
The story starts out with a pretty decent premise. The competitive nature pushed so clearly in the beginning promises to present an interesting relationship between the main characters and the straight-forward female lead is at least a good potential to pull away from a lot of very cliche characters. The problem is that shortly after we get caught up to the ... Feb 23, 2018
Very simple romance story that took certain cliches and raised them to the max. It feels as though the story could have been nearly 40 chapters shorter than it was but sticking it out and reading through was kind of worth it, the ending was both satisfying and underwhelming at the same time.
The art style was very 'shoujo manga'ish, so the characters were very pretty. There wasn't too much in each panel so it was an easy read. Possibly the most idiotic main characters ever, but that was half of the enjoyment. Not to mention the overwhelming chemistry between the MCs and the side characters ... Jun 27, 2020
I decided to give this shoujo romantic comedy a shot because of course, it has a pretty high score on MAL and the art in the cover looked pretty cute. so when I first started reading this, I thought great we have a over the top rich guy in love with an emotionless straightforward talking girl who would make you laugh your head off with the things she comes out with
However as I kept reading the manga, the story felt pretty much the same by being a drag and included a "third wheel" character who shouldn't be there in the first place. Seriously the character ... Jan 10, 2025
After a bunch of people recommended me to read this manga, I finally caved and gave it a go. Now, Although I did enjoy parts of the manga, it definitely isnt for everyone. Credit where credit is due, the characters are a breath of fresh air in a genre that is generally filled with the exact same MCs; you know, dark hair, cold, no personality?. Well, Yanagi isnt like that at all. He has a fun, quirky personality and a genuine relationship with the Female Lead. They bicker, joke around and interact with each other like best friends would which makes their relationship feel real

This is the first time I am leaving a review for a manga--especially one that I didn't particularly enjoy much--but I feel compelled to do so due to the high rating of this series.
While it's true that the overall rating of this manga is quite high (beyond the 8 point mark), I personally couldn't possibly fathom why that is. Firstly, there's the story that's with a decent setup. After all, with a cold female lead and a charming male lead that lets himself be led around by the nose, you already have the recipe for something good. So how come that it never amounts to ... |
