Overly sexualized characters in Anime haven't really gone away. In fact plenty of this stuff exists in regular seasonal Anime even today. Just if one has been into this medium long enough eventually such stuff starts to become desensitizing with prolong exposure. It's like some teenage brat isn't going to masturbate over the exact same piece of pornography almost every single day for over a year. Where something like that will simply just stop arousing them easily after being exposed to it usually no more than a few times. It's just modern Ecchi entertainment has become more lowbrow since the early 2010s and sometimes just annoying to watch with stories that just don't resonate with a viewer like me anymore. Specifically if it's something that's produced strictly for such purpose to have the characters being the butt of humor at the expense of being sexually exploited like simply getting their boobs grabbed, as if that is really going to make someone laugh who has watched over countless of Anime titles where it's happen before. Where literally the last Anime I remember watching something like this that was extremely sexually explicit that actually made me laugh a few times was "Why the Hell are You Here, Teacher!?" from 2019. Where even at times something like "Mother of the Goddess' Dormitory" from 2021 almost became too cringe to watch for me where I almost dropped it. Even "Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time" from 2020 got old for me where I almost didn't even want to bother with it's sequel "Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time: Super Extra" from 2022. But since it is such a short Anime and it was on HiDive when I had an active subscription at the time, I just watched it for the hell of it. Reminds me of how "How Not to Summon a Demon Lord" from 2017 actually offered a premise I was interested in at the time and still offered plenty of graphic animated tits and Ass for those who would likely be extremely thirsty for such a thing, though the sequel "How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω" from 2021 effectively killed the entire franchise with such a lame continuation to the story. Even gimping it's rollout with only 10 episodes as if the producers knew it wasn't going to do as well so why bother with even producing the average amount of episodes for a seasonal release. If there is anything that needs to return from the past in this medium when it comes to sexual content, Anime could be produced again with sexual content where it's simply not just done for the main intent of humorous purposes and offer interesting stories with characters look way more mature again and not just a bunch of generic looking sexualized Moe school girl blobs. I always look back at stuff like "Agent AIKa", "Najica Blitz Tactics", "009-1", "Freezing", "Grenadier", mainly just the 1st season of "Ikkitousen" because the story started becoming stale after that, "Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar" (though the sexual content is mostly borderline used for humor), and even something like "Witchblade" as exemplary examples of Anime offering some what of engaging stories that interested me and still flooding the Anime with plenty of sexual content as eye candy and not just "look I grabbed your boobs" humor. |

Episodic anime like Magipoka and Strike Witches, and like other people mentioned already, ecchi that had more risque stuff. Almost every new ecchi is censored, toned down, or just bad. I remember one ecchi a few years ago censored nudity when breasts were shown by giving the girls Barbie anatomy, awful. |

@Zarutaku Hentai and porn in general has always been censored in Japan. The whole reason tentacle hentai exists is to get around the censorship. It's illegal to this day to not pixilate genitalia in Japan.

I think he is talking about "hentai" that use to actually be produced outside of Japan or produced for the sole purpose to distribute over seas. Where such stuff use to get licensed for distribution on official physical copies over seas till Piracy basically killed it off. Because people stopped buying physical copies of Anime in general and just pirated the stuff in the West. So that extremely Niche industry completely died out because Hentai doesn't generally get platformed or licensed for legal streaming in the West. |

Magi, I enjoyed the first 2 seasons and was looking forward to season 3 with how they were building it up. Would be nice if they made a Gundam series with more then 2 seasons outside of the Universal Century. Spin off of Gundam Build Fighter/Divers would be nice, I highly enjoyed those 2 series and I went into Build Fighters thinking I wouldn't like it but it quickly changed my mind I think those series allow alot of things that a normal format can't. |

@ColourWheel good reply and agree with you. I want more ecchi like Agent Aika and Freezing, which know what they are, know what they're trying to do but do it in a no holds barred way with action and touch of comedy in the case of Agent Aika and bit of drama in the case of Freezing. Why the Hell are you here Teacher was gold standard for me, funny, bit of light romance and fan service. Also War on Geminar, forgotten about that one Fan service is an art (see Saekano OVA for how it's done right and Strike Witches for terrible fan service which doesn't work and ruins the show), it's more than just showing some tits and ass. Chained Soldier was pretty good, it had a fetish angle but i liked the whole power thing and fighting monsters as well. The chubby Elf on a Diet show was ok. Stuff like Inukai-san's Dog just doesn't interest me, just plain weird. Peter Grill was ok, but mostly for the variety of different girls that kept getting their kit off (my favourite was Piglette Pancetta, the orc girl). |

I want ecchi to be trending again. While ecchi is still a big thing in Anime nowdays, they were a lot of ecchi titles before compared to now. Of course, titles like IR, Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete, Redo of Healer, Isekai Harem Slave, Renai Flops, etc are still known but I want like 4-5 titles or more each season. |

I'd love to see 90s/2000s-style VN/Erogame adaptations make a comeback. Multitude of girls with wildly varying hair colors and oversized ribbons, some degree of ecchi/harem shenanigans, romantic drama, maybe some sad/supernatural mystery elements... all woven together in chaotic fashion to blend multiple routes and condense a few dozen hours of gameplay into a 12-24-episode TV series. A lot of the relatively recent VN anime have been from the more action/horror/sci-fi side of things, as with Fate/, Utawarerumono, ISLAND, Higurashi, and Yu-No. But I've always preferred the "romantic dramedy" end of the spectrum, represented by KEY stuff like ONE/Air/Kanon/Clannad/Little Busters, and others like Da Capo, To Heart, Final Approach, ef, School Days, Shuffle, Rumbling Hearts, and Gift ~ Eternal Rainbow. |
