Netsuzou TRap

Netsuzou TRap is a show I initially hated, but upon giving it a second chance after it had finished airing ended up liking quite a lot.

Going into this show my experience with yuri anime was limited to shows like Sakura Trick and Yuru Yuri, where the characters tended to consist of naturally likeable, pure hearted angels who would be cute and endearing to watch, but not at all representative of actual people. These unrealistic expectations led to a pretty rude awakening upon first checking out Netsuzou TRap, and made me dislike it enough to outright drop it.

Some months later, with a much firmer idea ... of exactly what I'd be in for, I checked this show out again and feel I can actually rate this very highly.

I'd describe Netsuzou TRap as a visceral character drama about a cast of naive, insecure and otherwise emotionally vulnerable people. You have Yuma, our kind-hearted protagonist who means well but through her confusion and misunderstanding of her emotions is prone to being taken advantage of, or inadvertently causing pain for others. Hotaru knows exactly what she want, but not how to express herself in a way that's healthy or responsible. The boys of the show, a nice guy and an asshole respectively, serve more as mirrors for Yuma and Hotaru to reflect off of rather than interesting characters in their own right, but this works well and feels appropriate considering the short episodes and length of the show.

Whether or not you enjoy Netsuzou TRap will depend pretty much exclusively on whether you can empathise with the main characters, regardless if you think they're right or wrong. If you watch anime purely for the escapism, you likely won't find much value in this show. If you find character studies more interesting or like watching characters who aren't perfect and who have all the flaws and fears that real people might have, then this might be more your kind of thing.

The story as a whole is fairly tight and works its way soundly to a fairly conclusive ending that, for once, doesn't require further reading of any source material to appreciate. I personally liked the character designs and artwork, and although it didn't bother me that much I feel as if it could have done with slightly more animation and less panning shots.

In terms of yuri, there's a fair amount of it and it's pretty decent both on a romantic and sexual level, but it wouldn't necessarily by why I'd recommend the show, even though it's the reason I started watching in the first place.

Main points: representation, real in a very messy way.

I'll start by saying that I feel like my rating of this anime is higher due to the representation than it would be if I was rating any other anime. It wasn't an amazing storyline, it was very short, and many of the other valid criticisms I've already seen written in some other reviews. However, I felt compelled to write a review specifically for lesbians.

This anime is messy. Coming out is messy. Dealing with feelings for someone of the same sex for the first time is ... messy. Falling for someone that you think is straight is messy. And that's what this anime shows. Did the characters deal with it the right, honest, fair way? No, not really at all. Did they hurt each other and other people in the process? Absolutely. Were they in the wrong for the cheating and dubious consent? Yeah. This anime is painfully real and very messy, in a good way.

Real representation in this anime came in the form of compulsory heterosexuality and unintentionally hurting genuinely nice men in the process, finding yourself in a position where you are abused by men because it's easier that way and that's the "natural order" we're taught to follow, having gross comments from men about you being with women, starting to fool around with and then pulling away from a friend you've fallen for or are attracted to so you don't get hurt... there were so many aspects in this anime that made my heart clench at seeing accurately represented.

The fan-service is also consistent throughout, certainly not bait.

Also, just a friendly reminder that this anime is an example of what relationships should NOT be. The dubious consent is not okay, the cheating is not okay, and I certainly don't relate to those parts, but there is definitely a lot of interesting representation that I haven't seen before and that resonated with my own not-so-great experience with discovering my sexuality. It's very real and very messy.

Most of the negative reviewers are missing the point of NTR. Or I am. This show deserves a 10/10 solely because of the socio-psychological mess the characters are. If you are looking for escapism from the world of crappy people, don't stop here. Watch something else. But if you want to see how crappy people live their lives, this is worth a watch. This is the most realistic anime I think I've ever seen. I knocked off a couple of points for the rushed pacing.

There are only 4 characters worth mentioning. This is not in order of ... character importance but rather the easiest to write about first. Yuma's boyfriend, Takeda, is the only innocent person in this show. Not only does he do nothing wrong, but even after being burned by Yuma, he remains her friend. He's just a good guy.

Then there's Fujiwara. This guy is a grade A asshole. If you didn't know guys like this when you were in high school or college then either you were lucky or led a sheltered life. This guy exists everywhere. The dude who roofies a girl. The guy who beats his girlfriend. The guy who cheats on his girlfriend. The manipulative dickhead. That's this dude. And worse than that, because of the real life level of this show, there's no exacting revenge on him or putting him in his place. He just gets away with it like so many real life scumbags like him.

Yuma's best friend, Hotaru, straight up has mental problems. Because she was shy and never had any friends, she was so codependent on Yuma from an early age. She loved Yuma and didn't know how to express it. She didn't know how to express ANYTHING so she just makes one bad choice after another. Hooks up with the worst guys, manipulates her friend, gaslights her after sexually abusing her, she just does bad things. Is she a bad person, though? Probably not. Fujiwara is a bad person. Hotaru has mental issues from a crummy childhood, which doesn't excuse what she did, but it serves to explain them. All of her actions were cries for help when she thought Yuma was slipping away from her. Unfortunately, they were extremely self destructive. But is it possible that down the line she could become a better person? Hopefully.

Yuma is a more complex character than most reviews give her credit for. She's the victim. She has always loved Hotaru but didn't know it. Which is bloody lucky for Hotaru because otherwise Yuma would've been out of there after the first sexual assault, like most people (think they would). But here's the deal: young high school girls with self esteem issues are easy to manipulate. Sad fact of life. And this keeps happening to Yuma, over and over. Takeda suffers because of it. Yuma suffers because of it. Hotaru manipulates her and she falls for it hook, line, and sinker. Once she snaps out of it, though, she's able to right the wrongs she's committed and get back on track and try and turn Hotaru around.

The sad fact is, these people exist and are everywhere. If you watch this show and don't see someone out of your past in each of the characters, then I'm impressed.

TL;DR: If you're into watching people's lives turn into a dumpster fire by adding mistakes to mistakes, this is your show.

Finally, after all this time, we get a proper yuri anime which focusses on the sexual relationships between two girls! A one of a kind, niche thing.

Netsuzou TRap isnt for everyone. It only targets those who like yuri anime and want to see girl on girl action which is hardly seen in anime, especially sexual relationships, because of the controversy behind the LGBTQI+ community. This anime is a game changer and hopefully will inspire other anime to be free in it's story writing regardless if it's controversial.

The story is quite predictable but this is a yuri anime. It's satisfying and hits the marks for what ... you expect this anime to be; an NTR anime. Two girls each have boyfriends and they start "experimenting and practising" sexual acts with each other in order to be more experienced when the time comes to engage in the acts with their boyfriends. However, when experimenting with lesbian sexual acts, they come to realise that they are growing more closer and more affectionate to each other. This becomes a problem when they try to maintain their relationships between their boyfriends while keeping their lesbian sexual encounters a secret. This anime is only 9 minutes long per episode, which is shorter than a standard anime episode. This allows unnecessary fillers in episodes and allows the anime to get straight to the point without having to add unnecessary information that will only bore the viewer. However, the short 9 minute episodes does also feel like there is a lot cut out and makes the pacing of the show rather fast which some may not be used to. It makes waiting each week more excruciating as we aren't getting as much information as we would with a standard anime episode. This anime has a simple concept and will make a small part of the community who like yuri very happy.

One gripe I do have with this show so far though is that the supposed sexually explicit scenes are watered down and doesn't quite give a full "yuri" experience but at the very least this anime goes slightly beyond your typical shoujo ai.

The art and animation in this anime is nothing exceptional. It's like every other anime, they all pretty much look the same anyway. However, it still looks pleasantly good and it will please viewers and it's an art style we are all familiar with. On a side note though, I love the blushing Okazaki does whenever Mizushina does something unexpectedly sexual to her.

The soundtrack is alright. The OP gets you in the mood to get prepared for the start of the episode and the ED leaves you with a satisfied feel after knowing the end of the episode has come. I like this voice acting in this anime, especially with the two main female protagonists.

The two main girls are very likeable and the character development is explored through their growing relationships through their sexual encounters which allows us to see their progression through their controversial lesbian relation; from initial deterrence to acceptance and overall satisfaction of sexual acts from someone you know well of the same sex.

Overall, I am enjoying this series so far as it's something different from your typical shoujo ai anime.

I recommend this anime to those who want to see a proper yuri anime.

Overall, I'm enjoying this anime enough. It won't be everybody's cup of tea (obviously). It reminds me of Sakura Trick with less "yuri for guys". It depicts more of an actual struggle in people with confused feelings on sexuality.

I think people are being much too harsh on this anime. Granted, the anime tries to squeeze in quite a bit in 7 minutes, and the story moves quickly, so it lacks impact to some degree.
Still, the characters actually have depth to them, and their relationships are actually different and fairly interesting. Hotaru comes off as a bit calculating and almost as though she's using Yuma, but ... it seems more like she's in love without a proper outlet.

I think it's going to appeal to those who can relate, rather than yuri fanboys. So far, the story, and above all, the relationships, are more fleshed out than people give them credit for.
And the character design is nice, I'll give them that too.

Netsuzou TRap is a wild ride, but a ride you will enjoy all the way through. I wouldn't be lying if I told you I watched the whole thing in one sitting.

The story follows our two leads Hotaru and Yuma, best friends who are both dating guys. Takeda and Fujiwara. It follows Yuma and how she struggles with dating. Luckily she has Hotaru there to show her how it's done. Most of it revolves around yuri action while the girls develop feelings for each other. Although at first, the story may seem a bit controversial, it ... is defiantly worth your time.

Hotaru: She may seem a tad on the unbearable side at first, but honestly in the second half she is downright the best character.
Yuma: she's the airhead who is very gay, but pretends she isn't.
Takeda: he's a good bean. he deserves better.
Fujiwara: Is actual garbage. A rapist and domestic abuser. Needs to die.
{ENJOYMENT}
I think I enjoyed the drama in this show a little too much. It was really fun to watch and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

It is a great show about a girl coming to terms with her same-sex attraction through much pain, struggle, lies and mistakes.
Her main struggle is to understand if this is love or she just wants to keep a friend. And then, what to do with a friend... or love.. or what is it, live together? But another girl has a boyfriend! How she feels about him? Would they break up? What to do if they do not? It is all so complicated!

It is a drama where all the characters are not the paragons of virtue.
All characters here have problems. They are afraid, they do ... not know what they want, they lie, they hide their feelings, they do not understand their feelings.
They cheat.
There is also a violence between the lovers and high-school girls working as hostess in adult cafe (not striptease or prostitution though).
But this makes it realistic.
From morale-upholding point of view, this show does show some shit, lie, cheating and mistakes so the audience can learn on these mistakes. It is very amazing that the show helps the watchers to develops a disgust towards certain stuff.

Unfortunately, some watchers will mistake their disgust to the bad things on display with the show itself.
Well, do not watch WW2 movies because there are Nazis.
If you think the characters must show the high morale image or come to one during the story, then please, do not watch, for example, "Ocean's 11" because the main character is a thief.
Also, if you are outraged by the stupid life choices, then "Romeo and Juliet" is not for you.

Overall, the enjoyment is high. You always think if the girl would make the right choice this time or not.

The show is more heavy on fanservice than the original manga but you can ignore it.

I'm not going to write a very long or indepth review as is common on this site, instead im going to keep it short and say why I loved this show!

You should already know that this anime is about the journey of two girls discovering what it really means to love someone. But instead of the typical boy-girl relationship, they come to realize that the person they love is someone of the same gender.

Personally, I love shows that go outside of the gender norms. Gay and Lesbian (admittedly way more into the Lesbian side) relationships appeal to me in a way that a normal relationship ... could never be. There is something pure about a relationship that gives nothing but still receives so much! This show does an excellent job at showing why people would make the choice to love outside of the social norms while presenting some very real characters! (if not a little extreme but still characters that can and do exist in real life)

The show has two main females and two main males (tho they are secondary in the main cast role). One female and one male represent the "good" wholesome character, and the other makes up the "bad" degenerative character. One character genuinely loves someone and wants the best for their partner, while the other simply wants something but does not love their partner. These two extremes help mold our MC into a character you can cheer for!

If you read other reviews you will see a lot of people talking about how the pacing is odd and slow in this show... I do not get that. First off, the episodes are about 6.5 minutes in length if you skip the OP and ED, so it's not like much time passes in each episode. Secondly, this is a relationship we are talking about. One that defies what most of us were raised to understand as "acceptable" and "unacceptable". Personally, I thought this show was paced very well! The MC questions their feelings and works through them by thinking about it, talking about it, and acting on it! There are many things in my life that are similar to what the MC goes through, that took a year or more for me to figure out! This show spans the length of maybe 4 months at most! With that in mind, the pacing is actually pretty fast!

This went a little longer than I wanted but I feel like I have accurately said what I wanted to say! I really hope you decide to give this show a shot despite the bad ratings, it really is worth while.

Whether you have a fetish for girl on girl, or just really want to know more about what kind of thoughts someone has when they go through this kind of ordeal, I highly recommend this!

The story is focused on a high school girl in your second year who has just started dating a male friend in her club. BUT she's never been particularly interested in a relationship, it seems. And her friend (a girl) insists that she needs to “practice” sexual acts with each other before doing them with her boyfriend.

Art 7/10
It definitely suffers on this front from a lack of explicit content, or even fully-drawn bodies; while Kodama's art can be very sensual when she's drawing legs and lower torsos, the lack of nipples makes most of the scenes involving breasts look a bit off, particularly ... since she doesn't draw upper bodies in general particularly well.

If you like your yuri, this is your world. Sweet and focused on the emotional relationship between girls with aggressive romance.. NTR: Netsuzou Trap is a fairly unusual yuri story. It's good to see the variety that the genre has to offer, even if Kodama Naoko's full series debut has its issues.

I think the reason people don't like this show is because it breaks a lot of conventional anime rules. A lot of people are going into this expecting it to be like most other anime, which is a mistake.

These characters have flaws. All of them. They all have flaws, and they aren't portrayed like other anime where they ~magically overcome their flaws with the help of the person they fall in love with and they all live happily ever after!!!~

No, man. You can't go into every show ever expecting that same resolution/closure, and i think a lot of people are selling this show short/stifling their ... own enjoyment of it with that expectation.

This show portrays these flaws and the development of these characters in a realistic way, as opposed to pretty much all other anime that end the way i described above. It's not because of lazy writing, the character arcs don't feel unfinished. It's just not realistic that all of the characters overcome all of their flaws by the end. Sometimes it doesn't work out that way, and that was INTENTIONAL. They talk about Yuma's flaws even at the very end.

I'm willing to admit that the story itself isn't mindblowing. It's not bad, but what made this show special for me is the writing for the characters. The tension Yuma finds herself with in the mess of a situation that develops feels very real, and the characters have a realistic progression. It feels like this show nailed how the situation would have played out in real life, not ~magic fantasy anime land~

I think the realistic take on a situation isn't sitting well with a lot of anime fans given the score this show has, but it's sitting well with me. I thought it was good.

What a surprise, from here everybody suddenly noticed that world, people and their own attitude and feelings are not sugar flavored, so everybody should be happy no matter what. There will be always grayscales.

There's a typical psycho fAckboy like those that actually exist, a dreamer guy that wants to follow his dreams, if its not possible, everything related to it would be ok. Pretty common.
A simple-minded (that ironically has to be blonde) girl that doesn't realize what her feelings truly are, that never thinks about other's felings until it's too late already. Who would imagine? That actually exists too, there's people like that out there.

A ... psychologically damaged (Manga for more context, that's a kinda awful point against anime) girl that never received love that she wanted, not even that she deserved. Not even from the only person that could change her entire world. I don't have to tell that there's people living like that, more than anyone could imagine, have I?
Put all that on a table and this is what we got, not a surprise that many people forfeit their hopes on their ideals and give all their lifes into fugacious whims. Trash people (Fujiwara) will be trash people like, forever.

This is the most realistic shoujo ai that i've watched so far. Didn't you like that there's people that cheats their own couples? Even if they are not convinced that their relationships are not what they want? Well, sorry that it's me that has to say it but happens all the time.
There's no school of feelings, you have to try over and over until your heart (yeah, brain, whatever), knows what it really wants. Of course you will hurt yourself, obviously you will hurt people but that's being human.

All of that it's pretty much for heterosexual relationships. What about homosexual relationships? Well, think about all of that and multiply it by hundreds. How would you think that you love your own best friend because you both have the same gender and society was hiding those kind of relationships? Not recently tho, in Japan still happens. That way you have to figure it by yourself, nobody can guide you.
At the end if you can't realize that this story it's so beautiful by itself, that's just because you are so young or didn't experienced something like it before. You would be able to understand it way better if you are gay or lesbian.

Otherwise you are a gastronomist talking about astronomy or viceversa. Being a "yuri lover", "yuri fan" doesn't make you an expert in lesbian relationships, you are just satisfying your curiosity.

For a Shoujo Ai anime, i guess it was one of the greatest example for this theme.

Anime shows, how the main character getting affected by her feelings for his best friend getting changed from being a friend to lover in this 9 minute short episodes.

The thing is that, its not just showing a lesbian relationship, at the same time showing the social problems comes within school and around.


We have the main character so self-contradictory. And i really did hate the main character tryna answer the same questions nearly in every episode. At the other hand we have the boy who has crush ... on her doing the same thing. This two characters of the anime literally got me wanting to hang myself. it was so disgusting.. this self-contradictory thing taking so long was a note breaker for me..

And second couples acts were good. We got the boy being a literal dhead but still the girl has to don't ruin the contract. and the wild contract about their relationship was a great point in the anime.

Overall drama was remarkable and interesting. and it is very short so didn't get bored while watching.
I definitely recommend watching in a free time for ya'll who is interested in shoujo ai theme.

I don't understand why people hate this anime. A lot of people failed to see beyond the cheating part. The story itself was more realistic than the generic cutesy slice of life romance animes. I love the way Hotaru's relationship with Fujiwara was portrayed so realistically. This side to some relationships is never shown in anime.

It's interesting how people love Clannad so much but turn away from animes like these because they show bad kinds of relationships. I'm glad this anime portrayed it so realistically and didn't make any baby like immature characters like in Clannad

Personally, this anime was good only because it was ... interesting to the end. I was constantly wondering what would happen between all the characters and the drama and suspense kept me watching. Pity that it was so short. I wish the author spent more time incorporating some elements from the manga into the anime. Would have made a great full length anime. And definitely better than Clannad.

It is not good as a story, but it is good if you want some fanservice. It was very enjoyable at least.
The characters are very questionable in their actions, the whole things a mess, it is by no means something worth having watched if it didn't have the yuri scenes that it did. But it did so at least there's something out of it.
Borderline hentai with a plot.

I also have to admit I have rewatched this three times. I am curious as to why out of many yuris to choose one, this got adapted, surprisingly this is like the author's worst ... series and I would honestly recommend their other ones.

If you said yes to any of these last 3 questions, chances are you're not gonna like this show.

The thing is with these types of shows, you have to have an open mind and not immediately assume it's trash because you can tell what's going on. I'm not* saying this show is great by any stretch of the imagination, I always judge shows by their entertainment value, NTR, had a lot of cute moments between the two main girls and had a definitive romance unlike other anime that are considered masterpieces that end up being open-ended as to whether or not the two MC's ended up in a relationship.

I strongly believe that if you don’t like NTR anime, you won’t like this anime, not even for the sake of yuri. For me, as a 10 min break during my Wednesday, was enjoyable.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS

STORY (7/10): As the length of each episode is around 10 minutes (even less, if you consider the opening and the ending), the story feels a little rush, the transition between some scenes is abrupt. I strongly believe that if the episodes length were more (~20 min), the story could have been better told. Character decisions would have been more consistent. Nevertheless, Netsuzou TRap is a simple story ... but quite unique in the yuri part, in the sense that there are two girls involved betraying their boyfriends.

The fanservice was decent (they actually put some sexual scenes) and the comedy elements hilarious. The ending was satisfying but it leaves me with the sensation that I would love to see more.

SOUND (8/10): Music really catched my attention. The opening is SO GOOD, “Blue Bud Blue" by Haruka Toujou has powerful guitars that stick in your mind. Now, I automatically associated those guitars with the anime. The music for each character was also good, I feel that each theme suit its respective character.

ART (6/10): The art is not too good, not very memorable but the animation in general was fluid. There is one particular issue that I don’t like with the female character designs... the legs, it was weird.

CHARACTERS (7/10): In a general point of view, they have weakness. Takeda is such a good guy with a big heart but lacks on the ability to notice the true behind Yuma. Yuma is overall stupid [or very slow learned] till the last chapters. But the true interesting characters here are the other couple: Fujiwara and Hotaru. Fujiwara is a completely scum, while Hotaru has motivations that if you haven’t read the manga, probably you will take time to figure out. But for the NTR thematic, each of them were realistic, everyone have met guys like Takeda, Yuma, Fujiwara or Hotaru.

this is one of the two shorter shows this season that uses LGBT for shock factor in their borderline (rape) hentai. our two main (girl) characters are friends who one of which recently got a boyfriend the other a well-known man-eater. the first girl (the one the show follows) is Yuma Okazaki and she lacks experience as this show tells us. so our other girl Hotaru pretty much lesbian rapes her to teach her things (at least what she wants us to think (as the description tells you)). groping her and making out with her whenever she can even though Yuma refuses. like I said ... this is a borderline hentai or at least it's 100% fan service. so you can judge the plot based on that

the art is really good so you can enjoy your groping especially if you get your hands on the uncensored later if you're a pervert which if you're watching this unironically you probably are. just as good as any other modern anime not trying anything special with it.

the music is surprisingly good. it's worth checking out if you're into listening to anime music on your free time.

Yuma and Hotaru are the only characters you need to worry about as the only other ones are the guys who are only around to push the maybe this is really Hotaru teaching her stuff. I talked enough about them in the story section. I like the characters for what there is. there are much worse in this genre so the bar is set kinda low.

overall if you looking for a hentai meant for TV this is a place you want to go otherwise stay far away (sometimes it sucks to be a completionist) i'll give it a 7. (even though it is pretty good considering what it is that's as high as i will go because I would go watch an actual hentai if i wanted this)

As much as I hate to admit it, things happening in this anime (and probably the manga as well, didn't read it) do happen irl too. I think it perfectly resembles real life how the focused 4 personalities (aka 4 main characters) build up their relationships with each other, finding themselves and discovering their own feelings. In my opinion, this setup is good and is worth to watch, it's a nice experience, but the way the anime was created feels more like a hentai scenario (without actual hentai). I wish it was longer and more proper, giving time for events to escalate and the characters ... to develop. It's not a bad anime, there are way worse out there, but it's clearly wasted potentials, unfortunately.

After watching Netsuzou Trap I went to MAL, gave it a 8 (and considered giving a 9) ... and was shocked by its overall score.

I`ve read a few reviews and it seems that veiwers totally miss the whole point of an anime. It`s not about "netorare action" and\or "sweet, sweet yuri". Hell no! Netsuzou Trap is about finding yourself and finding courage to see yourself as you are, finding courage to accept yourself. For me, this story made much more sense than most of the romantic anime I ever saw. This is a story about making mistakes, A LOT OF THEM, and desperately trying to ... fix your life... by making even more mistakes. This is how people act in real life.

This is one of the best-written romantic anime stories I ever saw (300+ titles guy speaking) with solid plot and truly alive characters. I wish people could see the forest beyond the trees. Yes, there`s only one likeable character in this anime but art is not about what you like, it`s about what makes you feel something. After all those plain railroad-ish straightforward romance anime Netsuzou Trap is really something new, something different.

Till episode 6 my personal fav character in this anime is FUJIWARA.

In the latest episode i saw that fujiwara caught the 2 girls in a lesbo relationship.
They dont hv any guard to save them & now all they can do is beg for mercy towards him.

The point ... is : ALL THE 3(YUMA, HOTARU & FUJIWARA) are equally unfaithful
