Review: Make-up

Solemnization & Reception

My MUA for both solemnization and reception in Perlis was Kak Ram. I was introduced to her by Qistin when I panicked and started searching for MUA during my engagement. Qistin had Kak Ram on her day, as well as Sumpit. Nasrah had her during her engagement. Betulkan?

Kak Ram was punctual and bought along her friend, who turned to be a great entertainer among us because she is very friendly and bubble and did a great job in calming me after a-know-it-all aunty masuk campur and tried to ruin everything incident.

I love Kak Ram's touch and had no complaints whatsoever. For the price that I paid, I personally think she did a good job. I asked for natural look during solemnization and got it. I asked for smokey eyes and smoldering look during reception and she nailed it. I even instructed her not to use any pink hues on my face because my skin has yellow undertone and pink would made look washed out (the reason why I don't wear pink!), not too much obvious shading because I personally think shading is so passe. She listened and delivered.

During the reception dolled up session, she was feeling experimental that she added gold-ish tone to my lipstick and I ended up looking fierce (not Tyra Bank's fierce but mak tiri fierce). When I complained she changed the colour into something softer (I think coral) and I ended up looking pretty. HAHAHA. Muntah!

She's a nice person to work with and you'll feel at ease.

OMG, I can't believe that my skin would actually look this flawless. That's the power of good make-up tools and skilled MUA y'all.
Can you believe that this picture was taken after we had our makan beradap and under scorching hot sunlight at 5pm? Make-up still stays.

Bertandang

I think I was very lucky to have Kak Sai on H's reception. Kak Sai is actually MIL's second cousin and the best thing is that we got harga sedara y'alls! Hehe.

I really let Kak Sai did her magic on my face this time. Kire ala-ala let loose la gitu. Because I trust her and so far her works are superb. Have you not seen all the celebrities that she dolled up? Gorgeous to the max!

Kak Sai came with her friend Azie. A bit late because she went to the wrong hotel! HAHA. She waited for about 30 minute at the lobby of Grand Dorsett Subang only to realize that our room's number is not even exist. Of course la sebab we're at Concorde Shah Alam! Lucky she still had ample to work her magic and honestly, I've never felt any prettier! Muntah hijau. HAHA

The problem with me is that I can't carry much make-up on my face or I'll end up looking like an extra from Chinese Opera. I can't even wear heavy fake eyelashes because my eye's shape. So, to have both MUA successfully nailed it in making me pretty, I couldn't be happier.

Whoever MUA that you choose is subjected to your preference. Regardless of the price that you pay, be it RM1000 per session or at mere RM500, make sure that it's worth the money. Though make-up no doubt will indeed make you look pretty, I believe inner beauty plays an important role.

Ampun please?! HAHA.

MAYDAY MAYDAY! Wanna Look Gorgeous On Your E or W-Day?

I know most b2b nak amik Ayang Kamell as their MUA but cannot sebab he's fully booked and all but now is your chance! If you're getting married on that day and still haven't got any clue on who's going to doll you up, then it's your luck because he's available on 25th Sept. 2010!!

I'm just helping out another b2b friend of mine. Since reception dia shifted to night, Ayang Kamell is not available on that slot. But she paid the deposit already so she can't have it back unless she find a replacement.

Hey, she got her deposit back and you got Ayang Kamell. It's a win-win situation, right?

Make-Up Artist (To Be Know Later As MUA)

Seriously, planning a wedding can cause massive headache! I kid you not. B2b will surely aware and would agree with me on this.

We have to scrap the initial plan of having a poolside reception. As much as both of us hate the idea of having a reception at a hotel, we have to just follow. We put up a good fight but lost and sadly, life must go on.

--------------------------------------------------------

I'm currently looking for a MUA for our wedding. Frankly speaking, I don't want to spend much on make-up. I find it ridiculous to spend over RM1000 just to "paint" your face. But if you're willing to spend more than I do, by all means please do. Kak Sai is actually H's mom's cousin. But I don't know if she's willing to do my make-up for something (way) less than she normally charge. You know, harga sedara-mara pun ada limit kan?

So far, the only thing that is done is dulang hantaran and guest list. My pomander balls are not even finished and so does the boutonnieres (I know, I'm taking my own sweet time here).

Can anyone recommend me any MUA worth taking and most importantly affordable i.e around RM500-ish? Kindly need your help. I so busy coping new things at work nowadays that I need to eliminate wedding-y things that can caused headache ASAP. The earlier I can complete my check-list, the even better.

Pan!c (At The Disco)

I'm in my panic Bridezilla mode.

Beware! Bridezilla Moose is on the loose. Gotta alert traffic control!

Initially both boyfriend and I do not want to get engaged at all. I repeat, don't want at all. We've known each other for already 8 years. So, why waste time (and money) on engagement, right? But in another few days we're getting engaged because the elders think that it is more appropriate if we do so. So we listened and succumbed to our elders.

So, we planned that everything will be very simple and intimate. Only a handful of friends know about this. I even only break the news to my close friends on Friday, last week. Since we know that the event will be a close ceremony, we do not hire any photographer, no mini pelamin, no guest favours, no anything that scream engagement. I even planned to DIY everything that can be DIY-ed. From make-up, floral arrangement etc.

Few days back, H's mom hinted about photographer. I said we didn't hire any. I said that we can ask some relatives to take all the pictures. Just now, H informs me that his parents are so keen on hiring a photographer. His mom's bestfriend to be exact. This uncle is an old timer in taking big-shot events. Rosmah is one of his client. Rosmah the PM's wife. Not some random Rosmah.

Buuuuuuuuuutttttttttttttt.......there's a big butt here,

we don't like the photos taken, the angles are so wrong, the editing are so old fashion!, though the pictures are sharp. He's an event photographer, remember? But how do we say this, we no likey. The only people that seems to like it are no surprise, the parents. I pity H because honestly, he have no say or rather can't say anything in this. His parents want the uncle and pay for it. All inclusive. The rate is undeniably low considering that his wife is H's mom bestie. He only charge for transportation, material and accommodation.

Now, I'm panicking. Professional photographer means clearer and sharper images, right? Means all flaws on the face will be visibly clear. With the amateur-ish make-up skills that I have, there's no room for uneven finish or unbalance eyeshadow. I certainly don't want to look weird but to look out for a MUA in Perlis or Kedah (Jitra, Alor Star) in exactly 4 days when I'm here in Subang (and work till Friday) is so not funny!! Besides, I have other things i.e. looking out for a new job to worry about.

So, HELP!!!

p/s: any b2b out there who has pondan friends or anyone who have make-up skills and willing to travel to Perlis on CNY? Matilah suka-suka hati panggil orang pondan. Ampun uols.

MUA..Kali Ni Bukan Muahaha..More Like Huwaaaa

Holla people!

I'm at the comfort of my house, erm I mean my parents house. Mom asked me to come back home to discuss further about the engagement. And also to scout for make-up artist (MUA). So we went and scouted. And after 3 visits to 3 bridal stores, I either have to accept the fact that I will look like this....

or I have to rely on my basic skill and do the make-up all by myself, whether I like it or not. Which I am confident that I will not end up looking like something out from the chinese opera. And hopefully I look something like this,

(bunyi cengkerik)

Sudah sudah la berangan tu...

Isk isk, macam mana ni??

MUA..muahaha

Today I finally called the make-up artist for the upcoming engagement. This MUA was recommended by one fellow blogger and a bride-to-be as well, Qistin. Her (or His?) name is Kak Ram (or rather Abang Ram patutnya). (S)He very chatty and very friendly, but unfortunately (s)he's booked on the day that is going to be my engagement day. So (s)he can't promise that (s) can come to my house in Perlis to do me. Kak Ram is based in Alor Star. And from Alor Star to my house it would take about 45 minutes.

Haruskah aku meroyan, stomping on cars with breath of fire?!!

Me, in my BrideGodzilla outfit

She even suggested that if I insist on taking her, I can come to her (or his), gender confuse betul house right after Subuh and she can do my make-up there. The rombongan will prolly come at 9-10am so she can have enough time to make me pretty. Tapi sungguh gigih lepas Subuh terus pergi jumpa Kak Ram untuk make-up. Selalunya lepas Subuh aku bantai pergi tidur balik ade la..wagagaga.

Another option is not to hire Kak Ram tapi cari mana-mana make-up artis in Perlis. But, I don't know where to start. And isk isk I doubt if they have ehem, you know the touch of doing natural make-up and without me end up looking like an extra from the remake of Chinese Opera.

Do I look pretty? I feel pretty, eh no?

So how now brown cow? I thought bila date dah set, all other things will fall into its place, tapi nan ado. Though, food catering and canopy dah confirmed. Thanks to my parents yang actually agak eager tapi buat-buat tak excited. I know! Haha.

It seems that for the past 3 entries all I could think/write about is my engagement. Sorry readers, I will try to write about my gym progress whenever I have time.

Ok?
