InCoWriMo 2018 in Review

Now that all of the mail I sent out in February should have been delivered, I thought I would share a recap of my 2018 InCoWriMo adventure.

I received another lovely postcard! This one is from Beth, a crazy quilting friend, and it is a beauty. The photo is copyrighted, but I was able to find it on-line. It is a National Trust image taken by Andrew Butler (image 53085 - it may be seen here.)

To be honest, I was not expecting to receive mail through InCoWriMo, so every delivery was a treat!

In addition to that postcard and the photos below of items previously shared, I also received several emails and messages through Facebook from friends that received mail from me.

This lovely card and set of goodies from Christine.

This beautiful letter with pretty hearts from my blogging friend at Createology.

This fun postcard featuring a photo by Jeffrey Peterson of the M.J. Lee Ferry in Oregon from Kathy

Mail I sent:
One fabric postcard that I made last year.

Six Valentines featuring the digital stamp, "You Have Mail" from The Paper Shelter.

Two birthday cards. (I forgot to photograph.)

One "Thank You" card (seen here with my phonecase from Case Designs, featuring "Kindred Spirits" by Anne Stokes - found here.)

Twenty-four postcards featuring my "Snail Mail" CQJP 2018 February Block. I had these printed by Costco Photo Center and they were so much fun to mail out!

In all, I mailed out 34 items in February.

Where my outgoing InCoWriMo mail went:
Australia - 2
Canada - 1
The Netherlands - 1
The United Kingdom - 2
    England - 1
    Wales - 1
USA - 28
    Alabama - 1

If you emailed me your address for InCoWriMo and have not received a letter or card from me, please be sure to let me know! (I feel like I missed something...)

I want to thank you all for making InCoWriMo so much fun!

Did you know that April is National Letter Writing Month in the USA? I just read that the US Postal Service is kicking off National Letter Writing Month with limited edition "From Me to You" stamps.

An Internet search for "April National Letter Writing Month" brought up several interesting links. Only a couple are listed here.

The Smithsonian's National Postal Museum Blog has an interesting post by Nancy Pope encouraging readers to pick up a pen and paper to write a letter in April.

There is also a letter writing challenge in April. The Write-On Challenge began in 2014, inspired by Tess Darrow, the founder of Egg Press. It is a challenge to write 30 letters in 30 days. You may learn more about it here

Thanks for visiting!

More InCoWriMo Happy Mail!

This wonderful card arrived in the mail the end of last week as part of InCoWriMo 2018.

Exchanging letters with Kathy from Running with Rocket was particularly fun because we are both in Oregon.

The card she sent me features a photo of the M.J. Lee Ferry on the Willamette River that was taken by Jeffrey Peterson. My husband and I actually planned to take this ferry once while we were out and about years ago. Unfortunately, we did not plan things very well, as the ferry was not running that day. Oops! (I assume it was a holiday, but it was too long ago to remember.) We may have to try again soon!

I love our beautiful state, so this was a fun surprise to receive in the mail. Thank you, Kathy!

Hugs,
Renee

InCoWriMo Happy Mail

Earlier this week, I received this sweet letter from my dear blogging friend from Createology. The stationery is so pretty and her  handwriting is lovely. (If only mine were half as neat!) The little hearts are such sweet additions! Thank you!

The postcard in the photo was my outgoing InCoWriMo mail. I had special postcards made to mail this year and am happy to hear several of them have reached their destinations. (I will share photos of the front in my InCoWriMo Review post later this month.)

I hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Happy InCoWriMo Mail!

I am feeling so spoiled! Just look at the happy mail I found in my mailbox this week.

When my friend, Christine, agreed to swap letters with me through InCoWriMo this year, I had no idea I was going to receive such a treat. If you click on the photo to see a larger image, you may be able to tell Christine sewed the patches together on the card she made for me. I love her "patchwork" - it is absolutely darling!

You may have noticed my favorite shape is a heart. So, the card of heart buttons is a wonderful treat. And I cannot wait to play with these gorgeous threads!

Thank you so very much, Christine!

If you would like to see some of Christine's pretty quilting and embroidery projects, you may find them on her blog, Patchwork Allsorts, here or on Facebook, here.

Thank you!
Renee

Happy Mail!

Just look at what arrived in my mailbox on Friday!

My friend at Createology sent me this lovely tatted wreath ornament.

My photo does not do it justice. You may see more wreaths she has tatted here. She also does lovely crazy quilt work.

Thank you so much, Sherry! It is a treasure.

Hugs,
Renee

More Happy Mail!

Look at the wonderful mail that arrived from ThermOWeb yesterday!

As some of you know, I am participating with my first quilting block of the month.

Amy at Sew Incredibly Crazy and some of her very talented blogging friends offered a Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month.
(Here is a link to the blog posts at Sew Incredibly Crazy.
And you may find my blocks here.
Joan at Moosestash Quilting has finished here quilt and it is here!)

ThermOWeb is one of the wonderful companies sponsoring the Sun, Sand, and Sea Block of the Month.

In October, I won a drawing after completing this block and entering it in a linky party.

ThermOWeb sponsored the drawing and I won all of the goodies shared in the first photograph.

The timing was perfect, as I used the last of my roll of HeatnBond Lite to complete this block.

I want to thank ThermOWeb for sponsoring this block of the month. I love their products!

I also want to thank each of these bloggers - not only for being so talented - but for being incredibly sweet and supportive.
They have made my first BOM experience SEW much fun!

I also encourage you to check out the 2018 BOM.
The theme is: It's a "Wild" Life.
Details are here and each block is free the month it is released.

Thank you for visiting!

Happy Mail!

Look at what I found in my mailbox today!

It was from someone I have never met or even chatted with on-line until today, so it took me completely unaware.

A few weeks ago, I joined the Swap Junkies Group on Facebook. However, I was waiting to join the swaps until after the holidays.

Imagine my surprise when I received this from another member.
(The label was prettier. I altered my address a bit...)

Look at all of the wonderful gifts that were hiding
in this pretty pink envelope.
It left me with a huge smile on my face on a day I needed one.

Delilah, your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
Renee

InCoWriMo 2017 in Review

Disclaimer: This post includes a couple of links to Amazon. I am not affiliated with the products. However, my blog is affiliated with Amazon. If you visit Amazon from my blog and make a purchase, I do earn a small credit.

In a post on January 31st, I shared my plans to participate in InCoWriMo 2017 (INternational COrrespondence WRIting MOnth.)

The goal was to mail or deliver one hand-written letter, note or postcard every day in the month of February. Although I did not write every single day, I did manage to mail or hand deliver 28 items (postcards, letters, and a giant posterboard Valentine) by February 28th.

Throughout the month, I shared photos of my outgoing mail on my Instagram account. (You may find it here.) Now that everything has been received, I thought I would share my first InCoWriMo experience. (It is a photo heavy post!)

Day 1: Crazy Quilted Valentine for the Crazy Quilting International Valentine Fabric Postcard Swap went to New York. (There are more pics on this blog post.)

Day 2: Embroidered "snail mail" fabric postcard mailed to my Mom in Oregon. (More information may be found here.)

Day 3: A letter with a hilarious package of gum went to a relative in South Carolina. The gum cost less than the shipping price, but it was worth the laugh. (I purchased the gum at a candy store in Lincoln City, OR. However, I did find it on Amazon (for a higher price) - if you are interested in reading the text on the back, you may find it here.)

Days 4: I mailed this funny card to a relative in South Carolina with a sense of humor that fit the card. (I'm not affiliated. It made me laugh!)

Day 5: I mailed a letter in the top envelope to a friend in Oregon. (I made the envelope with a piece of scrapbook paper and a Kreate-a-Lope C6 Envelope Template.)

Day 6: A "thinking of you" card went to a dear family friend in an Oregon coastal town.

Days 7-9: InCoWriMo "snail mail" fabric postcards went to Kansas, Canada, and California. (I shared a tutorial of how these were made here.)

Day 10: A birthday card was mailed to a young man in Oregon. (One of my dearest friends had him on my birthday years ago. What an amazing birthday gift!)

Day 11: A birthday card was mailed to a relative in South Carolina.

(I was thrilled to find these Happy Birthday stamps in a drawer.)

Days 12 & 13: My friend is a photographer (Lori Norton Photography) and for Christmas, she gave my husband and I a set of gorgeous note cards featuring her work. I practiced some caligraphy (using actual ink and nibs) on notes to two dear friends. One went to Arizona and the other to Canada.

Day 14: I stole this idea from a college roommate the year my husband and I met. I wrote him a Valentine on posterboard and incorporated the names of candy bars into the text. He barely looked at it when I gave it to him. A couple of years ago, he commented it was probably the coolest Valentine he had ever received - and to think for over 20 years I thought he hadn't liked it! It appears I did manage to embarrass him that first Valentine's Day. Oops! So, I made him another posterboard candy Valentine this year. Over 20 years later, I think I embarrassed him again - lol! (Someone on Instagram asked if there was a Pulp Fiction reference here. Nope! I just worked the candy into the letter.)

Days 15 - 21: Postcards of Silver Falls State Park went to Oregon, Arizona, and The Netherlands. A postcard of the Boeing Factory in Everette, Washington went to The Netherlands. And a Dilbert card and a funny postcard both went to South Carolina.

Day 22: I mailed a thank you card to Veronica after receiving this amazing birthday card she drew for me. She is SO incredibly talented!

Day 23: A "thinking of you" card went to a coastal town in Oregon.

Day 24: A funny postcard went to a relative in SC.

Day 25: A baby arrival card went to a friend in Oregon that just had her 2nd child.

Day 26: A thank you letter went to my mom in Oregon in another hand made envelope.

Day 27: A crazy quilted under-the-sea themed fabric postcard went to a blogging friend in California that offered to write me during InCoWriMo.

Day 28: I printed a copy of the under-the-sea themed fabric postcard onto a notecard, adding the text "InCoWriMo 2017", and mailed it to North Carolina.

Where my InCoWriMo outgoing mail went:
Arizona - 2
California - 2
Kansas - 1
New York - 1
North Carolina - 1
Oregon - 11
South Carolina - 6
Canada - 2
The Netherlands - 2

I received mail from:
Arizona
California
Kansas
Oregon
Pennsylvania
The Netherlands

2 of the items I received were through InCoWriMo. 1 was through a swap and the other 3 were surprises. 4 of these items were shared in this post. One was shared on Day 22, above. And I am awaiting permission to share the last postcard I received. It is a beautiful print of a painting made by a blogging friend.  (I still need to reply to that one!)

InCoWriMo was a very fun experience. I am not very good about keeping in touch through letters and phone calls, so it was a great opportunity to send some happy mail to people in my life. I look forward to participating again in 2018!

Thank you so much for stopping by and making it through such a looooonnnnnnnnggggggggg post!

Happy Mail!

Look at the wonderful treasures that arrived in my mailbox last week!

I received a card from my best friend since 5th grade. (She is sooo much better at staying in touch than I am!)

This gorgeous dragonfly card arrived from my crazy quilting friend, Sharyn. She is also participating in InCoWriMo (International Correspondence Writing Month.)

Just look at the sweet laces she sent for me to play with. I am feeling quite spoiled.

And I love the wax seal on the envelope!

My blogging friend from Creatology offered to swap letters with me during InCoWriMo. Imagine my surprise when this beautiful fabric card she created slipped out of the envelope. I just LOVE it! It is so pretty.

And, as part of the CQI 2017 Valentine Postcard Swap, I received this beautiful piece of art from Diana Williams. I love the Valentine fabrics, the tiny beads around the heart buttons, and the little Valentine letters the sweet birds are carrying. It's just gorgeous!

I hope Diana doesn't mind me sharing her sweet note. Several of my recent posts have discussed making fabric postcards. The back of this one is made with fabric. I love that it is personalized and also mentions her name, the name of the swap, and the year for me to look back upon.

I do hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! Thank you for stopping by.
