This is a purely statistical bot that I am planning to run here on Meta-Wiki. I foresee that it will flood the RC in a way that is likely to annoy recent changes patrollers, and hence am asking whether it would be better for my alternate account to have a bot flag instead (as what I don't want is a bunch of complaints later on). If the community thinks that the bot itself is inappropriate, please let me know (though I've read the bot policy).
One example of what I plan to run is https://meta.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/User:Leaderbot/Statistics, but this is not necessarily the only example.

- Isn’t duplicating official Wikistats? -- Pols12 (talk) 12:42, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Pols12:, does the above not provide only statistics in one-month intervals (also I think it's considerably harder to, for example, find the rank of a user using that page) - please correct me if I'm wrong. Also, I do plan to extend this bot; what I shared above is just the first step. Leaderboard (talk) 13:11, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- Wikistats also provide one-day interval stats.
- I don’t understand what kind of edits would perform the bot. For performance issue, statistics should be evaluate from data dumps (see “Data retrieval” information in the Bot policy). -- Pols12 (talk) 13:23, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Pols12:
- Regarding your first question, could you show me how to do that? I only see monthly options for the "Top editors" section.
- See https://meta.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Leaderbot; I expect to do the same here (at least initially). The bulk of the work is indeed done using a Cloud VPS instance; this is only the last step (i.e, publishing the results to wiki). Leaderboard (talk) 13:27, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- Just click on “monthly”, it switches to “daily”.
- OK, I better understand, thank you. -- Pols12 (talk) 13:35, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

- What is your expected edit volume per day/week? — xaosflux Talk 17:14, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: It is expected to make up to ~947 edits every defined period of time (i.e, about a few times per day). Leaderboard (talk) 18:15, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux:, is there an update to this request? Leaderboard (talk) 20:32, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- Done @Leaderboard: limited to "reports" (broadly construed) within Special:PrefixIndex/User:Leaderbot/, not to exceed 1000 edits a day without more discussion. — xaosflux Talk 22:26, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- Also within Special:PrefixIndex/Global statistics/ and on requested opt-in User_talk pages. — xaosflux Talk 14:06, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
