BRONTE COUNTRY

Bronte Country van with snowy hills glimpsed between houses. Stanbury. Calderdale, West Yorkshire.

In the broad area around Haworth, everything gets related to the Bronte sisters who used to live there: tyres, teas, caravan sites, gin!

This was taken yesterday outside The Wuthering Heights pub in Stanbury, Probably the last of the snowy pictures for the moment as the temperatures have moved above freezing today.

BLEAK

Sheep on snow. Warley Moor, Calderdale, West Yorkshire. 21st January 2023

. . . bur breathtaking.

January 21st 2013.

Sheep grazing on Warley Moor despite the snow.

The valleys were thick with freezing fog but it was clear up here on the tops of hills.

POSTS IN MIST

Wooden fence posts and barbed wire. Warley Mooor, Calderdale, West Yorkshire. 13th November 2022.

As well as snow, we have some good mists round here. This was taken on Warley Moor back in November. You should be seeing hills beyond but . . .

PIGEONS IN THE SNOW AT HEBDEN BRIDGE

Pigeons seeking crumbs in the snow in Hebden Bridge, Calderdale, West Yorkshire. 18th January 2023

To take this photo was more complicated than you might expect for the pigeons kept thinking I was there to be perched upon and kept landing on my shoulder and my arm. They kept flying directly at my face as well - thinking perhaps I was eating the camera and they'd like a bite too.
I always admire their feet.

VIEW THROUGH GRUBBY WINDOW

View of autumn trees through grubby window with plant in foreground.

A sponge on a long pole arrives tomorrow. Maybe, when the window is cleaned this glimpse of early autumn will be even more beautiful.

WHEN LIFE IS LIKE A LADYBIRD BOOK - 9TH JULY 2022

Lake, trees, grass, cafe and people at Shibden Park, Halifax, West Yorkshire.

So there was a long gap . . . and today, another short walk. This time round the lake at Shibden Park. (Halifax, West Yorkshire.) I have no idea why the grass has come out that colour. In real life it was/is grass colour, not a weird lemony-lime. The other colours in the photo are ok.

ISLAND - 24th MARCH 2022

Small island in reservoir near Wainstalls, West Yorkshire with wind turbines in distance.

24th March 2022

For the first part of the year . . . I had pneumonia.
I was in the process of recovering when . . . on the morning of 24th March 2022 I went for a short walk and took this photograph. In the afternoon, I broke my hip. (I now have a metal one.) Looking forward to non-eventful times. (Apologies to those who know already for being repetitive. I'm gradually catching up on my various blogs.)
