Andrew "PixelAndy" Artiaga is an American classic Tetris player. A runner-up in CTWC 2020, he has consistently placed in the top ranks, finishing in the Top 4 in the CTWC events of 2021 and 2022. PixelAndy has also secured back-to-back wins at the Waco regional tournaments in 2023 and 2024. He has reached #1 Elo multiple times and boasts four CTM major titles, showcasing his competitive prowess. Additionally, he is recognized for his exceptional skill in the DAS playstyle, where he holds several world records on the killscreen.

Biography[edit]

Early Career[edit]

PixelAndy began his NES Tetris career in summer 2019. He started out as a DAS player, but would slowly start incorporating hypertapping into his playstyle. He was one of the first "hybrid" players. Shortly before CTWC 2020, it was revealed that Dog was his younger brother.

2020: CTWC debut[edit]

In CTWC 2020, PixelAndy qualified 6th seed out of 64 players. PixelAndy was seen as an underdog when compared to the likes of Dog and Joseph Saelee. After beating Nenu in the semifinals, PixelAndy would advance to face his brother Dog in the finals. In a hard-fought match, he was reverse swept 3-2 by Dog.

2021: Competitive success[edit]

PixelAndy would claim his first CTM Masters title in March 2021 after beating Nenu 3-2. He would place high in numerous other tournaments and won CTL Season 14. In CTWC 2021, PixelAndy qualified 2nd seed out of 64 players. This time, PixelAndy was seen as a top contender for the title. He would make it to the semifinals where he was defeated by Dog 3-1.

2022-Present: Consistency[edit]

PixelAndy won two CTM Masters titles before the world championships, and became one of the members of the Big Six. In CTWC 2022, PixelAndy advanced to the semifinals but was defeated by Fractal 3-1. Since then, PixelAndy has consistently performed well, winning CTWC Heart of Texas Regional 2023, CTM August 2023, and CTWC Heart of Texas Regional 2024.
