Natural History Discovery Kits

Bring the natural world back to your classroom with Lindsay Wildlife’s Discovery Kit rentals.

Discovery Kits use real museum specimens in hands-on activities to engage your students.  Each kit’s lesson plan includes background information on the topic and three engaging activities that utilize observation, experimentation, and critical thinking. All lesson plans utilize grade-specific Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to satisfy specific learning objectives. The kits are described in the table below and organized by grade level.

Classroom not required! These kits fit a variety of needs, such as: homeschool, science fairs, and courses outside of the sciences like art and social studies.

AVAILABILITY: All rentals are for one week

COST: $30 for one week; late fees are $10 per day

 

We have a limited selection of specimens that can be added to any kit, pending availability. Each of the specimens has its own information sheet. Additional curriculum is not provided for these specimens.

Grades Kindergarten - 3rd

Animal Adaptations

Explore the many types of animal adaptations through natural history specimens and experimentation. Utilizing animal skulls and animal tracks, students will explore how adaptations aid animals in their habitats and survival.

Geology Rocks!

Explore the world of geology through rocks and minerals. Students will examine rocks and minerals and try their hand at identifying them. Through interactive lessons, students will also explore how minerals are used in everyday objects and the effects of erosion.

Operation Pollination

Explore the world of pollination through insects. Students will use real examples of insects and plants to explore how insects pollinate plants and how flowers attract their select pollinators.

Fossil Mania

Explore the history of Earth through fossils. These interactive lessons utilize real fossil specimens to explore how fossils are formed and assist in understanding ancient history.

Grades 5th - 8th

Enter the Food Web

Explore the role organisms play in the transfer of energy. Students will examine real examples of animals and plants to explore food chains, food webs, and how energy flows through ecosystems.
