Woman of the Hour 2023
For a short time after this film, I struggled with the sort of superfluous feelings that accompanied some of the scenes. You can feel the intent and purpose of showing the plight of women while still empowering them, yet there is possibly too much attention given to the villain outside of our three principal women, of which I feel Nicolette Robinson’s Laura is the most engaging character.
From the trailer and the title, I thought this was going to be a different kind of movie. However, I think I am glad that it wasn’t.

Halloweentown 1998
Place this in the “Was it great or were you eight?” canon. I rewatched this for the first time since I was a child, and I did not remember anything.
The plot is a mess and far too convenient, even for a magical world. It’s bad in a way that I question why I have any nostalgic feelings towards this at all.

For a moment, I forgot that this movie existed. I am glad that I remembered it and rewatched it. It is a wonderful portrait of the complexities of love and they way in which we can be shaped and scarred through our relationships with others.
