Coniunx spiritualis est una e latissime notis samanismi proprietatibus, quae in omnibus continentibus multisque culturis reperiuntur. Mariti vel uxores spirituales saepe videntur primi samani spiritus auxiliares, qui operi adsunt, vim animi praebentes. Coniunctio samanorum et eorum coniugum spiritualium modis amatoriis, sexualibus, pureve symbolicis fieri, ac commutationem generis amplecti potest. Samani dicunt se coniugibus spiritualibus in somniis, stupore, variisque rationibus ritualibus uti.[1] In nonnullis culturis, coniuge spirituali potiri est necessaria et praesumpta initiationis samanismi pars. Indicia coniugium? spiritualium videri possunt in culturis plerumque non samanisticis, inter quae sunt somnia de Christo monacharum,[2][3] quae nuptae Christi vulgo dicuntur.[4]
