What is Sic Bo
It is the game of many names, also referred to as ‘tai sai,’ ‘big and small’ or ‘hi-lo,’ and is dependent on the geographic location in which it is played. Its most common name, sic bo, directly translates to ‘dice pair.’ It is an ancient, Chinese gambling game, which has gained quite an impressive following in Macau, and limited to casinos offering Asian gaming rooms across the United States.
While it is believed to have originated in Asia, it didn’t reach North America until the 1900s, and didn’t become popular anywhere until somewhat recently.
It can be described as an unequal game of chance, and is played with three dice.
How To Play
The game begins with three dice, which are placed in a cup to be shaken prior to a roll. When playing online, the computer will simulate the roll. A sic bo table is typically made up of many colors, representing the different betting options. The object of the game is to predict the outcome of the three dice.
There is an assortment of bets which can be placed. A single number bet is when you predict that one die will roll a number between 1 and 6. A double bet allows you to wager on a specific pair, and a win occurs if at least two of the numbers appear. A triple bet, or three number total wager occurs when you combine the total shown on the resulting dice roll.
You should also be familiar with the terms, ‘pair’ or 'double' and ‘triplet.’
A pair is apparent when a dice roll contains a pair of the same number. Rolling two 5’s is an example of this, and it will pay 11-1.

Additionally, a triplet occurs when all dice rolled are the same number. For example, if you wagered on three 3’s, and the result of the roll is three 3’s, you win. The payout for a triplet is 150-1.

Sic bo is strictly a game of chance, so you can’t really develop a fool-proof strategy for play. It is not the highest-paying of the table games, nor the fastest-moving.
