La Rochelle is a town in south-western France in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region of Poitou-Charentes. Locals are called Rochelaises. The city is home to three ports, one each for fishing, commercial and recreational purposes. For seafood dishes and shellfish platters try Andre, or Les Flots, with menu items like truffle risotto and grilled sea bass. Other venues include L’Entracte with its open kitchen, Les Quatre Sergents, located near the harbour, and Les Orchidees, near the market district. Don't forget the continental-style breakfast buffet back at the hotel.

Take in televised sporting events from across the world over 11 LCD tvs in Café des Sports. For pub environs, there’s Corrigan’s, General Humbert’s or Fitzpatricks’. Live music is found in Le Piano Bar. For dancing, try Oxford. For coffee and teas, there’s Merling. La Coursive has 2 auditoriums, home to concerts, films, theatre and dance performances. La Rochelle hosts the annual Darts Championship of France if you're keen on regional sports/games.
