Mobile Greyhound Park

There wouldn’t be no greyhounds chasing the lure in Mobile County, if it weren’t for one man. After so many years of trial and error, Maurice “Casey” Downing made it all possible when he finally pushed the greyhound track bill through the legislature in 1971. The very next year, the bill was voted successfully and now the Mobile Greyhound Park stands tall as some sort of monument to the efforts of this great man.

Open seven days a week, this is place where the locals come to watch the latest simulcast race live or simply grab a bite to eat with there loved ones and enjoy their moments of fun and leisure.

Over here you can enjoy the most delicious meals in the county, or simply settle down into a comfy chair and place some bets on Jai Alai, horse races, or greyhound races.

Gaming

Unfortunately, this place is for Greyhound, Horse, or Jai Alai aficionados only, so there are no slot machines or table games to try your luck with. If you’re looking for such modes of fun, you should check out the Wind Creek Casino & Hotel, that’s located in the nearby Atmore.

Hotel Accomodations

As this is basically a greyhound racetrack and a restaurant, they can’t offer you any accomodation, and if you’re looking for a place to spend the night, you will going to have to look elsewhere.

Dining

If you came here to eat, you can choose between Casey’s Cafe and concession dining. Concession dining will offer some faster options for those who are simply too excited to sit down and have a proper meal, so over here you can grab a slice of pizza, hot dogs, nachos, corn dogs, grilled cheese, french fries, onion rings, candy bars, or popcorn.

Of course there are also fountain drinks, ice cream, and pies, and they will also serve you breakfast anytime of day.

Casey’s Cafe operates as a restaurant as it offers appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, and sandwiches.

Entertainment/Nightlife

If you consider the fact that the venue closes at 8PM on Sundays, 11PM on weekdays, and midnight on weekends, it’s plain to see it’s not really a nightclub or a place to go to for a live gig. Entertainment is alive and well here, but the joint simply isn’t shaped to resemble a brick-and-mortar casino.

We did snoop around their website, but we didn’t find any reward programs for customers, but we did find something we liked. They have a page dedicated to responsible gaming, which means they care about their customers in a great way.
