Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel

This location experienced a few delays during its construction but it finally opened in September 2015 and the locals couldn’t wait to get inside. The casino and hotel are located on the outskirts of Murphy giving visitors a good opportunity to drive just 2 hours to Knoxville, Chattanooga and Atlanta. The hotel rooms are reasonably priced and there is a good selection of Slots; however the types of Table Games are limited.

Gaming

The casino is open 24 hours allowing for gambling from the wee hours of the morning until late in the evening. There are over 1,000 Slots available from a variety of providers on the 60,000 square feet of casino floor. As a new casino they’ve got quite a few of the latest games from providers such as Aristocrat, IGT, WMS and many more. Denominations range from penny machines to bets for high rollers. If you’re a fan of Video Poker, Harrah’s is known for accommodating a range of bankrolls. Nickel poker can be difficult to find but they’ve got it as well as Video Poker machines that accept bets up to $100. The only disappointment may be for Table Game players. They’ve got a decent number of tables but games are limited to Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and Three Card Poker.

Hotel Accommodations

There’s nothing more convenient than taking a trip to the casino, especially if it requires some travel, and having the option to crash in an onsite hotel room. Check-in is at 4pm with an 11am check-out. All rooms are non-smoking and include standard amenities like a hair dryer, in-room safe, refrigerator, coffee and tea, cable and wireless internet access for a fee. Room types include River Tower Premium and River Tower Luxury featuring king beds or two queens. Both rooms are also available to cater to those with special mobility needs.

Dining

It was disappointing to see that this location does not have a buffet like most other Harrah’s casinos. All the dining options are extremely casual and meant to grab a quick bite. Your options include hotdogs from Nathan’s, Chinese at Panda Express, sandwiches at Earl of Sandwich or pizza from Papa Johns. There is also a Starbucks on the property.

Entertainment/Nightlife

A lot of fun is to be had by participating in casino Slot tournaments. Live entertainment isn’t its strong suit but Harrah’s Cherokee Casino located in Cherokee, NC has a larger casino at over double the size in addition to comedy, music and magic shows, a spa and much more.
