The Taj Mahal Palace hotel resort was commissioned by (Tata) and first opened its doors to guests on December 16, 1903. The original Indian architects were Sitaram Khanderao Vaidya and D. N. Mirza, but the project was completed by an English engineer W. A. Chambers. This was one of the places where terrorists struck on the night of 26th Nov. '08. It took the National Security Gaurds (NSG) commandos 60 hrs. to clear the building.
