Kaffe quilts

Bordered Diamonds is such a great pattern. The original pattern is in Simple Shapes, Spectacular Quilts by Kaffe Fassett, but that book is out of print now, so I've been using Midnight Diamonds from Quilts in Burano by Kaffe Fassett. I think the patterns are the same, but I haven't got out my ruler to check. I've had fun mixing the fabrics and applying borders to the fussy cut blocks. It was a quick trip to the AQS Fall Paducah Quilt Show in Kentucky, but my first time to visit Paducah. I was blown away by the number of quilts on display, in multiple buildings, both contest and exhibition. What I saw and could take pictures of was merely a drop in the proverbial quilt bucket. I cut all of the strips for the next 13 blocks and sewed them yesterday. The blocks will finish at 8" so this would be 40" x 56" at this point. It would take 13 more blocks to add one more row in both directions for a quilt 48" x 64", still pretty small. I have to decide how much I love making these blocks to see where this goes.
