Gigot sleeve

This dress from Area's Fall 2020 collection contains a shortened version of the original gigot sleeve. Traditional gigot sleeves extend to the wrist, whereas the sleeves here end at the elbow. However, they can still be considered gigot sleeves because of their general shape and how the majority of their fullness lies at the shoulders before they gradually decrease in diameter.

This look from the Nina Ricci Spring 2009 RTW collection features gigot, or leg-of-mutton sleeves. These puffy sleeves were popular during the Romantic period. They are full in the shoulder and taper down to a fitted cuff at the wrist.
