I bought an old silver platter for $10 and it was so tarnished that wasn't sure if it could be salvaged. A little elbow grease led to a pleasant surprise.

Vintage silver plate has a way of adding up at thrift stores. Stacks of trays, platters, serving dishes, and even silverware can usually be found at most secondhand shops. Thankfully, there are plenty of fun ways to repurpose all those silver-plated items, and not all of them involve paint!
