On March 27, 2024 the first meeting of the newly-elected HSE Academic Council was held. The meeting approved the list and composition of commissions responsible for the preliminary consideration of issues prior to their inclusion in the Council’s agenda. The attendees also discussed Russia's technological priorities and outlined ways for university staff members to participate in addressing technological development challenges.

In 2020 the world changed, and so did HSE. Classes were held over Zoom, exams were taken online with proctoring, Meladze performed online at the graduation ceremony, and HSE Day became Brand New. The festival’s main stage area was called ‘HSE PRO Future’—because, after all, the future is important for any university. It’s why we do what we do. Read on to find out what the next 10 years hold in store for HSE, and what HSE, which has already changed this year, holds in store for us. Below are 10 promises made by HSE on its most important day.

Additive technologies including 3D-printing are growing faster than 75% of other relevant digital technology areas, noted Leonid Gokhberg, HSE First Vice-Rector and ISSEK Director, at the forum ‘Additive Technologies, Growing Horizons’ hosted by the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) on 3 December 2019.

Experts from the ISSEK Centre for Business Tendencies Studies (CBTS) presented the results of a pilot project to measure digital activity of Russian industrial and retail companies at the 9th Joint EC/OECD Workshop (14-15 November 2019, Paris, France).

Forecasting the economy’s demand for spatial data, remote sensing data, and geoinformation technologies is one of the key objectives of the study being conducted by HSE experts jointly with the Aerospace Research Institute, commissioned by Rosreestr. A public discussion of the interim results was held on 7 November at the conference ‘Spatial Data for the Digital Economy and Sustainable Development of the Russian Federation’.

On 28 June, 2019 a graduation ceremony of the ISSEK Master’s Programme ‘Governance of Science, Technology and Innovation’ took place at the Higher School of Economics.

During the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum the Higher School of Economics signed cooperation agreements with a number of organisations. ISSEK staff — members of the S&T Foresight Centre and the Competence Centre for Cooperation with International Organisations actively participated in completing the groundwork for three of them: with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), and the Rosselkhozbank.

Alexander Sokolov, Director of the Foresight Centre and Deputy Director of the HSE ISSEK, visited Shanghai (PRC) in early May to take part in the International Pujiang Innovation Forum. The forum is annually hosted by the PRC Ministry of Science and Technology jointly with the Shanghai Municipal Government to discuss and coordinate decisions in the science, technology, and innovation policy area. This year the participants shared their expectations about the period until 2035.
