RESUMO Introdução: As avaliações clínicas em ortopedia e qualidade de vida estão inexoravelmente ... more RESUMO Introdução: As avaliações clínicas em ortopedia e qualidade de vida estão inexoravelmente associadas, dado que a natureza transfenomenal das Ciências do Movimento Humano explicita sua natureza complexa e em rede, onde fenômenos se articulam e interagem dinamicamente. Neste contexto as lesões ortopédicas são potencialmente comprometedoras da percepção da Qualidade de Vida (QV) das pessoas. Uma lesão ortopédica, aguda ou crônica, usualmente compromete as atividades cotidianas de diferentes populações. Objetivo: Avaliar a QV de pacientes submetidos à artroplastia total (ATQ) de quadril nos diversos domínios do World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF). Métodos: Para a pesquisa foram aplicados dois protocolos, sendo um de QV, o WHOQOL-BREF e um para ortopedia, o Harris Hip Score (HHS). O presente estudo teve característica descritiva e transversal e com população composta por 29 indivíduos de ambos os sexos, todos pacientes do Hospital São Vicente de Paulo, Jundiaí-SP. Resultados e discussão: A média total de HHS apresentou o valor de 84.44 que representa uma classificação final boa, o que atesta a importância da ATQ na vida dos pacientes. Os domínios do WHOQOL-BREF físico, psicológico e social apresentaram uma média final regular, variando entre 58 e 63 pontos classificando a qualidade de vida destes pacientes como razoável. No domínio meio ambiente a média foi de 48.17, que representa uma média abaixo do índice para se atingir uma boa qualidade de vida. Nas correlações dos domínios, percebe-se que o domínio dor possui uma correlação significativa com os domínios físico (p=0,000), psicológico (p= 0,009) e ambiente (p=0,002). O domínio função teve correlação significativa com os domínios físico (p=0,003), psicológico (p= 0,007), social (p=0,003) e ambiente (p=0,017), assim como o domínio total do HHS com os domínios físico (p=0,000), psicológico (p=0,001), social (p=0,005) e ambiente (p=0,007). Conclusão: O estudo demonstra que a ATQ, clinicamente, melhora a saúde e QV dos pacientes. Em relação à QV, a complexidade do constructo, que depende de aspectos físicos, sociais, psicológicos e ambientais, reflete as mazelas de um país desigual. An orthopedic injury, acute or chronic, usually compromises the daily activities of different populations. Objective: To evaluate the QOL of patients submitted to total hip arthroplasty (THA) in the various domains of the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF). Methods: Two protocols were applied for the research, one of QV, WHOQOL-BREF and one for orthopedics, the Harris Hip Score (HHS). The present study was descriptive and cross-sectional, with a population composed of 29 individuals of both sexes, all patients from the. Hospital, Jundiaí-SP. Results and discussion: The total mean HHS presented a value of 84.44 which represents a good final classification. The domains of the physical, psychological and social WHOQOL-BREF presented a regular final mean, varying between 58 and 63 points, classifying the quality of life of these patients as reasonable. In the environmental domain the average was 48.17, which represents an average below the index to reach a good quality of life. In the correlation of domains, it can be seen that the pain domain has a significant correlation with the physical (p=0.000), psychological (p =0.009) and environment domains (p =0.002). The functional domain had a significant correlation with the physical domain (p 0.003), psychological (p =0.007), social (p =0.003) and environment (p =0.017), as well as the total domain of HHS with the domains physical (p=0.000), psychological (p =0.001), social (p =0.005) and environment (p =0.007). Conclusion: The study demonstrates that THA clinically improves the health and QoL of patients. Regarding QOL, the complexity of the construct, which depends on physical, social, psychological and environmental aspects, reflects the ills of an unequal country.
Introduction: Quality of life (QOL) may refer to a conceptual and quite complex discussion due to... more Introduction: Quality of life (QOL) may refer to a conceptual and quite complex discussion due to specific definition lack and poor procedures and instruments able to measure it. In this study, QOL's instrument validation is based upon stressor and stress triggering agents. Foreign instruments may not always reach their goals as Brazilian and Latin American cultural differences shall compromise the data quality. In Brazil, questionnaires assessing organizational environment stress are scarce and often not validated. Objective: to demonstrate the construction and validation of an easy to apply instrument gathering stress and QOL. As a question problem, it was asked: What steps are to be followed for the construction and validation of an instrument? Methods: A 25 questions instrument was divided into four areas: Work environment; social relations; leisure; sleep. Six steps for instrument validation were followed: 1-Content Validity (or construct); 2-Internal Consistency; 3-Discriminant Validity; 4-Criterion Validity; 5-Concurrent Validity; and 6-Temporal Reproducibility. Results: The data is coherent to the instrument initially thought. Conclusions: The instrument is valid and reliable. It may be concluded that it effectively measures what it proposes to, consistently demonstrating success.
