Nowadays, the acquisition and use of a foreign language often takes place in parallel, and language mistakes/errors are a natural part of this process but this does not mean that they must be tolerated. The study is based on the results of a sociolinguistic survey obtained in 2018 and 2019. 253 students of four Universities and specialties, as well as different study levels from Liepāja, Ventspils and Rīga participated in the survey anonymously. Most of the respondents indicated that Latvian was their mother tongue; for a small number of participants, it was a second language or a foreign language. The surveyed students also differed in the type and number of foreign languages acquired. Apskatītajā laika posmā (1992–2018) ir izstrādāti trīs pamatizglītības standarti ar atšķirīgu lat... more Apskatītajā laika posmā (1992–2018) ir izstrādāti trīs pamatizglītības standarti ar atšķirīgu latviešu valodas mācību saturu. Pētījuma mērķis ir analizēt gramatikas jautājumu īpatsvaru šajos dokumentos, lai izvērtētu gramatikas mācību satura atbilstību plānotajiem mācību rezultātiem, ko izsaka mācību priekšmeta mērķis un uzdevumi. Šim nolūkam veikta dokumentu deskriptīvā analīze, latviešu valodas standartu teksta ekscerpēšana, gramatikas mācību satura salīdzināmā analīze un tiešie novērojumi. Raksts sastāv no trijām daļām. Vispirms ir raksturota gramatikas jēdziena izpratne. Tad ir sniegts pārskats par latviešu valodas pamatizglītības standartu izstrādi. Trešajā daļā ir analizēts gramatikas saturs un tā nozīme valodas kompetences veidošanā. Latviešu valodas skolotājiem ir svarīgi izprast, ko no dzimtās valodas gramatikas bērns izmanto neapzināti, bet kas jāapgūst apzināti. Pētījuma ieceri pārliecināties par konkrēto pakārtojuma vārdu lietojumu mutvārdu tekstā ir rosinājusi Kārļa Mīlenbaha monogrāfijā „Teikums” izteiktā atziņa par apstākļa vārda kad izlaidumu salikta teikuma sākumā, kas raksturīgs tautas valodā. Rakstā ir apkopots skatījums uz šo pakārtojuma vārdu lietojumu no valodas kultūras viedokļa, to paplašinot ar teorētisku un praktisku analīzi salikta teikuma sintakses aspektā. Pētījuma praktiskā daļa ir veikta, balstoties uz autentisku (dabiski veidotu) mutvārdu izteikumu analīzi. The Latvian language has two singular personal pronouns tu (T) and jūs (V) used for addressing one person but sociolinguistic processes in society reflects that the use of the T pronoun intensifies outside informal speech situations. The aim of the research is to characterize the system of pronominal address as well as to test the steadiness of the V pronoun (jūs) in the Latvian language. The empiric part of the research is a qualitative study based on personal interviews, direct observation, and responses in two questionnaires distributed in 1999– 2000 and in 2018. The use of Latvian address forms has been changed in comparison with the Soviet period. For instance, in education. The aim of the research is to find out the language attitudes held by full-time and Erasmus exchange program foreign students towards translation in acquiring Latvian as a foreign language on language proficiency level A1 and A2.The research is based on a qualitative study dealing with the results of survey data as well as direct observations inferred from the work with foreign students. The questionnaire consists of 11 questions on translation and usage of dictionaries and a question about personal information. The answers of 35 respondents from 12 countries have been analyzed. 91.43 % of the respondents enjoy translation tasks, only 8.57 % of answers are negative. The highest evaluation was given for word translation, that is, 4.23 for translation from a foreign language (Latvian) into English (being the intermediary language) and 4.15 the other wa...
