De poster maakt deel uit van het postersymposium Faciliteren en professionaliseren van docenten op het gebied van onderwijsinnovatie met ICT: Mind the teacher! Contemporary virtual classroom (VC) systems are promising tools for teaching in online and blende... more Contemporary virtual classroom (VC) systems are promising tools for teaching in online and blended learning programs. They offer practicable means to facilitate complex learning and (academic) enculturation. This study evaluates a free-of-charge short learning course (called ‘micro module’) for (aspirant) teachers and educationalists that introduces and promotes VC-use in present-day educational settings. Central to this short course were four one-hour VC-sessions that addressed (a) utility and usability issues and (b) topics related to (complex) learning and teaching in VC-environments. The sessions were distributed over a one-week period; each day both an afternoon and an evening version of a session were organized. Approximately 280 persons signed-up for the program. Between 5 and 10 percent of these subscribers took part in one or more VC-sessions. The recordings of the sessions were viewed around 160 times in total (count one month after the program ended). Bij Iselinge Hogeschool (pabo) wordt al enkele jaren gewerkt met het leren in netwerken waaraan b... more Bij Iselinge Hogeschool (pabo) wordt al enkele jaren gewerkt met het leren in netwerken waaraan basisschoolleerkrachten, pabo-studenten, opleiders en onderzoekers deelnemen. Omdat dit netwerkleren door studenten niet altijd als waardevol wordt ervaren, is onderzocht op welke manier deze vorm van leren voor studenten beter gefaciliteerd kan worden, zodat het voor hen van waarde is. Voor studenten is het van belang dat een van de deelnemers een faciliterende rol op zich neemt en werkt vanuit het ABGAVO-principe: Aansluiten vanaf de eerste bijeenkomst, Bijpraten wanneer een leernetwerk al een aantal jaren bestaat, Groepsdoelen toelichten, Actief betrekken, Verwachtingen uitspreken, Opdracht van de student koppelen aan de doelen van het leernetwerk.
The increasing digitalization of education requires an integrated view of innovation and related ... more The increasing digitalization of education requires an integrated view of innovation and related expertise development. This study validated and evaluated the content and use of the ”Integrated ICT Motion Sensor”, a tool for stimulating awareness about ICT-based educational innovation among multiple stakeholders within higher education institutions. The Motion Sensor offers administrators, managers, ICT specialists, educational designers, and lecturers a guiding tool for entering into a dialogue about substantive themes such as vision and policy, leadership, professional development, and ICT infrastructure within the institution. The validation of the content by questionnaires and a focus group with 10 experts showed that the experts’ input was almost in line with the Motion Sensor prototype, which was based on the literature. Reflection is a fuzzy concept. In this article we reveal the paradoxes involved in studying the n... more Reflection is a fuzzy concept. In this article we reveal the paradoxes involved in studying the nature of reflection. Whereas some scholars emphasize its discursive nature, we go further and underline its resemblance to the self-biased dialogue Socrates had with the slave in Plato's Meno. The individual and internal nature of the reflection process creates difficulty for studying it validly and reliably. We focus on methodological issues and use Hans Linschoten's view of coupled systems to identify, analyze, and interpret empirical research on reflection. We argue that researchers and research participants can take on roles in several possible system couplings. Depending on who controls the manipulation of the stimulus, who controls the measuring instrument, who interprets the measurement and the response, different types of research questions can be answered. We conclude that reflection may be validly studied by combining different couplings of experimenter, manipulation, stimulus, participant, measurement, and response.

This article is a synthesis of these 26 cases of good practice and reveals that there are many examples of good practice which can be used as models for calibration and/or modelling of ICT teacher training across the world.
