Abstract
El Informe de 1997 examina las fuerzas complejas que le han dado forma al proceso de reformas y analiza los retos de mantener un crecimiento económico sostenible, de la prevención de inestabilidad, las mejoras de la distribución del ingreso y la participación en la toma de decisiones públicas. Este año el informe Progreso económico y social plantea cuáles han sido los beneficios, los costos y las dificultades de ese proceso, y cuáles las acciones que quedan por delante para alcanzar los objetivos de mejoramiento económico, desarrollo social y participación política que demandan los latinoamericanos.
