El binomio formalidad/informalidad en el mercado de trabajo mexicano

Abstract
México se caracteriza por presentar marcados contrastes socioeconómicos: por un lado, forma parte de los veinte países industrializados; por otro, registra al 44% de su población en la pobreza. Al considerar las características de su mercado de trabajo, se destaca que el 57% de los ocupados son informales y el 50% de la población tiene ingresos por debajo de la línea de bienestar. En este artículo se sostiene que el binomio formalidad/ informalidad es funcional para el mantenimiento del capitalismo mexicano, y para su argumentación se desarrollan los siguientes aspectos: las diversas visiones sobre la informalidad, la utilidad del enfoque sobre la ocupación, la Encuesta Nacional de Ocupación y Empleo de México, el papel de la unidad económica de los hogares y la desigualdad y el mercado de trabajo.
