Abstract
In the context of social polarization and socio-spatial inequalities in the heart of urban areas, geographic job accessibility represents a significant issue. This article aims to analyze the evolution of job accessibility inequality by public transport between districts in the Lyon conurbation over a period of twenty years (1985 ? 2006). This is done by distinguishing the effects of the development of the public transport network from the effects of employment dynamics. Focusing on the different socioeconomic structures of the peripheral districts, we test the hypothesis that changes in accessibility are disadvantageous to the poorer districts. The accessibility is measured using a gravity model. Travel times are derived from a modeled public transport network for 1985 and 2006 and employment data comes from the SIRENE database (INSEE). The accessibility is generally improved between 1985 and 2006, but in a heterogeneous way between districts and socio-economic status.
