Personas con discapacidad: un desafío para Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador y Uruguay

Abstract
La discapacidad ha sido considerada históricamente un problema global que afecta a millones de personas, creando barreras que limitan la plena participación de estas en la sociedad. Por ello se propuso, como objetivo general de este artículo, analizar dicha problemática en Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador y Uruguay, mediante la revisión de literatura actual y documentos oficiales de las entidades responsables en cada país. Los hallazgos mostraron una situación digna de análisis en relación con las personas con discapacidad (PcD), principalmente en los países con menor cantidad total de habitantes; también, se logra evidenciar los actores nacionales e internacionales (gubernamentales) involucrados en el tema; en igual medida se aprecian los hechos registrados por cada gobierno para garantizar los derechos humanos y las soluciones planteadas en procura de que esta población tenga una mejor calidad de vida. En conclusión, todos los países estudiados muestran un fuerte compromiso (unos más que otros) con la protección y apoyo a las PcD, para minimizar las barreras que obturan la participación, promoviendo el desarrollo de una vida sin condicionamiento.
