Ton adalah berbagai satuan yang digunakan dalam berbagai hal, umumnya tagnsebagai satuan massa.
Satuan Massa

[sunting | sunting sumber]Ton metrik (M/T), dalam bahasa Indonesia sering disebut dengan ton saja, adalah satuan massa yang sama dengan 1000 kilogram. Satu ton sama dengan sepuluh kuintal.
Ton pendek
[sunting | sunting sumber]Ton pendek (S/T), atau sering disebut dengan ton Amerika Serikat, adalah satuan massa yang kira-kira sebesar 910 kilogram (2.000 pon).[1]
Ton panjang
[sunting | sunting sumber]Ton panjang (L/T), atau sering disebut dengan ton Britania atau ton Imperial, adalah satuan massa yang kira-kira sebesar 1.020 kilogram (2.240 pon).[a][2]

Dalam hal ini, walaupun satuan MTON berguna. Satuan MTON tidak digunakan dalam ilmu fisika.
Satuan Energi

[sunting | sunting sumber]Satuan Ton TNT biasanya digunakan untuk mengukur kekuatan atau daya ledak bom nuklir, dan juga kekuatan gempa bumi.
Sebagai contohnya: 1 Ton TNT bom nuklir, artinya: bom nuklir ini daya ledaknya/ kandungan energi-nya, sama dengan peledakan bahan peledak TNT seberat 1 Ton.
