nicolescadres Funeral doom at it's best, I really dig the tenor sax on bereft. For fans of Bell witch, NONE and Subterranean Disposition. Favorite track: Persona.

griefabyss Föhn's inclusion of jazzy instruments in an otherwise crushing, desolate hike is such a genius addition. Whether it's the erratic beginnings of Bereft that complement the frantic screams at the very beginning of our journey, or later on when we're deep in the blizzard and the saxophone floats above the sunken loneliness. The slow, brutal vocals and classic funeral doom instrumentals are robust and grounding in an album that uses carefully chosen additions to the soundscape. Favorite track: Bereft.

1.
Bereft 13:51
Life is but a fleeting moment In the grand scheme of things We're born into a world so cold Only to wither away like leaves Nihilistic thoughts consume me In this endless cycle of pain Search for meaning in the void Our struggles are all for naught So let us mourn The passing of life And embrace abyss With open arms For in the end We are all just Mere shadows In an endless dark
2.
A Day After 13:29
Days full of sadness Coffee and blood Spilled on the floor Yesterday I found My soul has a hole Keeping inside All those moments Never happened In this world The dream I saw that night Was nothing but reality The one I hoped to escape from But now I suffer in silence Is this my fate? Is this my end? And all I needed... ...was time
3.
In the shadow of cosmos Alone I stare Emotions cancelled Through lies and despair The pain of nothing Almost I touched The hand of my soul Tore out my heart How heavy Does it feel To be empty And alone? How heavy Does it feel Being heard By no one?
4.
Persona 17:27
A life once lived Now a product Sold into slavery A fate worse than death Through the misty lights I came To reveal my name And my story Fell on your head If you turn Into a "monster" Is it still you ...inside? Monsters profit From human misery Behold the Sun of the Unknown Falling deeper Behind their souls This is not me But I'm stuck Scars as a reminder Is this my fault? Cycle begins all over again But that day It was God Climbed that fence ...to redemption

about

Föhn's sound transcends traditional boundaries, rooted in funeral doom, drenched in atmosphere, and interwoven with elements of the avant-garde. The result is a dense, achingly beautiful experience, steeped in the essence of midnight and the whispers of urban life. Their music evokes an enchanting hush, creating a haunting journey for the listener.

The cohesive narrative that runs through “Condescending” prompts you to deeply consider the question: “What became of your innocence?” Each of the four songs collectively explore that theme, examining the profound loss of naive beliefs and their replacement by existential despair through exposure to the suffering and harsh realities of our modern world.

REVIEWS:

"The audio nightmare begins immediately, bringing forth slow, iron-shod pounding, a phantasm of dissonant, dismal, and maniacally shrill tones, and what sounds like the screaming of souls being roasted in hell" - No Clean Singing
www.nocleansinging.com/2024/07/20/seen-and-heard-on-a-saturday-fleshgod-apocalypse-the-shiva-hypothesis-fohn/

"Föhn‘s new album, Condescending, is straight up some of the best funeral doom I have heard in years."
everythingisnoise.net/premieres/bury-yourself-in-the-best-funeral-doom-of-the-year-on-condescending-by-fohn/

"Quite the experience. Fohn is a must-listen if not simply for the wealth of juxtaposition which is so admirably balanced and blended. It’s unabashedly Funeral Doom that pushes the boundaries of a subgenre that seemingly had none." 8/10
