The health of our wrists not only depends upon the strength and tone of the muscles on the tops and bottoms of our forearms, but also upon how we bear weight on our hands and wrists. Although repetitive use will damage muscular tension, wrist injuries themselves are usually caused by how we put weight on our hands.

Those who train calisthenics will commonly complain of wrist pain. I’ve injured my wrists twice during my calisthenics journey and use this routine to rehab and prep my body for my workouts. My wrists are feeling much stronger than before.  The next step for me is to do weighted wrist exercises and to strengthen my elbows and shoulders. The stronger your shoudlers, the less your elbows have to work, and the stronger your elbows, the less your wrists have to work. If your wrists hurt during workouts, you can strengthen them! My experience: you might find it encouraging that your wrists don't NEED to be that strong. Just durable enough to withstand your other workouts and not be a limiting factor. In that case, sometimes just regularly warming them up with these stretches gets the job done! Unless you want to blow everyone's mind with incredible wrist strength - then I say go for it!
