How can I see what my crypto is worth?
After purchasing crypto on Venmo, you can track any price changes in the Venmo app:
- Go to the Crypto tab
- Select your preferred crypto - we'll update the displayed current price every few seconds
The Venmo app will display historical prices for your selected cryptocurrency, as well as your previous transactions with that cryptocurrency.
By default, you will be shown the change in market value over a 24-hour period using a line graph. You can toggle to view one week, one month, six-months, one year, and the entire history of the selected cryptocurrency. When you tap on the timeline graph, you can view more specific values over time.
What does the “Total Return” number mean?
Venmo reflects your crypto balance position with real-time returns based on current market conditions. This is reflected as “Total Return” in the Crypto tab of your Venmo app.
We calculate Total Return by finding the difference between the original purchase price of your crypto including fees, and the price it’s selling for right now.
The Total Return is an estimate and will not be used for tax reporting. Learn more about taxes for cryptocurrency on Venmo.
