Publishing Ethics

Gospodarka Narodowa. The Polish Journal of Economics adheres to the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) recommendations and upholds the highest standards in publication ethics and research integrity. We do not tolerate data or figure manipulation, plagiarism, redundant publication, inaccurate or incomplete declarations of interest, or other irregularities. We will deal with allegations of misconduct following COPE’s guidelines, and issue corrections or retractions of articles as necessary. For further details see Wager E. & Kleinert S. (2011). Editors

• The editors take all necessary steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where any research misconduct has occurred. In the event that the editors are made aware of any allegation of research misconduct they deal with allegations appropriately.
• The journal has a procedure in place to prevent ghostwriting (a situation in which someone who has made a significant contribution to an article did not disclose his or her role as one of the authors or his or her role was not listed in the acknowledgments contained in the article) and guest authorship (a situation in which someone is listed as the author or co-author of an article even though their role is minimal or nonexistent). Any case of ghostwriting or guest authorship will be disclosed and an appropriate procedure will be launched, including the notification of the appropriate authorities.
• The editors do not disclose any information about works submitted for publication to persons or entities other than the authors, reviewers, editors or representatives of the publisher, to whom this information is made available only in connection with the publishing procedure.
• Submitted articles are evaluated in accordance with substantive criteria and ethical principles. The assessment is not influenced by personal factors such as sex, religion, race, origin, citizenship or political beliefs of the authors.
• The editors consider retractions, corrections or expressions of concern in line with COPE’s Retraction Guidelines. Any publication found to include fraudulent results will be retracted, or an appropriate correction or expression of concern will be issued. If an author is found to have made an error, the journal will issue a correction. If the journal is found to have made an error, they will issue a clarification and/or an apology.
• Articles that have not been published may not be used by editorial staff, in whole or in part, without the written permission of the authors.

Reviewers

• Reports should be conducted objectively, and observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments, so that authors can use them for improving the paper.
• Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.
• In the event of a conflict of interest, reviewers are obliged to inform the editorial staff immediately.
• Articles received for review are confidential. It is unacceptable to disclose to third parties information about receiving an article for review and to discuss with such persons the content of (or conclusions from) reviewed articles.
• It is the responsibility of the reviewers to identify and indicate in the review publications that the author should have referred to, but did not do so, as well as to provide the editors with information about unauthorized borrowings and/or suspicion of plagiarism.

Authors

• Only original research articles that have not been submitted to any other journal or publisher are accepted.
• The authors should maintain accurate records of data associated with their submitted manuscript, and supply or provide access to these data, on reasonable request. Authors guarantee that all data used in the article are real and authentic. Where appropriate and where allowed by employer, funding body and others who might have an interest, authors should deposit data in a suitable repository or storage location, for sharing and further use by others.
• The authors are obliged to participate in the peer review process.
• The authors are required to cite the publications they used in the article.
• The authors are obliged to disclose any premises of a conflict of interest that could have influenced the interpretation or conclusions resulting from the article, in particular to show all sources of financing, the contribution of institutions, organizations and other entities.
• All co-authors should significantly contribute to the research. The author submitting an article is obliged to ensure that all persons mentioned as co-authors accepted the final version of the text.
• Detection of fundamental errors or mistakes affecting the interpretation and conclusions in published articles requires immediate notification to the editors, who in such a situation will take, in consultation with the author, appropriate steps to post a correction or withdrawal of the article.
