The Association
The Association é un grupo de música pop formado en 1965 orixinario de California, sobranceiro polos seus temas do xénero sunshine pop. Durante a década de 1960 tiveron varios temas á cabeza do Billboard e foi o grupo líder no Festival Pop de Monterey de 1967.
Historia
[editar | editar a fonte]Jules Alexandre estaba en Hawaii en 1962 realizando o servizo militar na mariña e alí coñece a Terry Kirkman que acordan volver a reunirse tras Jules rematar na mariña. En 1963 os dous están nos Ánxeles e comezan a explorar a escena musical da cidade.
A suxestión de Kirkman adoptaron o nome The Association, o grupo orixinal compúñase de Alexandre, que utilizou o seu apelido, Gary, nos dous primeiros álbums e que cantaba e tocaba a guitarra; Kirkman tamén cantaba e tocaba variedade de instrumentos de vento, metal e percusión, Brian Cole, cantante tamén e guitarrista, Ted Bluechel, Jr. á batería, guitarra, baixo e tamén cantante, e finalmente Bob Page á guitarra, banjo e como cantante. Jim Yester substituíu a Page.
