The Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences (CAIAG) is a scientific institution conducting multi-disciplinary research on socially relevant problems such as Natural Disaster Risk Reduction, Water Management, and Adaptation to Climate Change challenges in Central Asia. It was founded in 2002 by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), Potsdam, Germany.
The institute conducts research in these key areas:
- Geodynamics and Geo-hazards
- Climate, Water, and Geo-ecology
CAIAG also focuses on the establishment of monitoring systems and data management, as well as on the education, training, and professional development of researchers.
