The stop gate elements will consist of a steel welded type construction and will be formed by a skin plate supported by
horizontal girders completed with vertical and horizontal stiffeners.
Sealing is realised with bulb rubber.
The load is transmitted to the embedded parts by steel plates.
Each stop gate will be provided with lateral guides and pins for hooking to the lifting beam and will be lifted with balanced water
head by means of two equalising by-pass devices operated by the lifting beam itself.

The lifting beam will be provided with a coupling pin to allow its handling by crane.

1.2 STORING STAND RACK


• Stop-log storage quantity 1

The storage stands for stop-log will be manufactured with epoxy painted carbon steel welded type construction. The total
capacity of all joined stands shall be suitable to store all the previous listed stop-logs and relevant grappling beams.
The storage stands will be located nearby the screening equipment and their final lay out and installation will be defined during
the supply.

1 Dam-plates will be common for bay inlet and bay outlet.

FUNCTIONING OF THE STOPLOGS GRAPPLING BEAMS

Before the insertion of the stoplogs in


their guides control:
•the efficiency of the grappling beam;
•the wear of the seals;
•that the hoisting equipments are
suitable to carry out the operations and
provided with a tension control device
in order to respect the load capacity of
the grappling beam.

INSTRUCTION FOR USE STOPLOG INSERCTION


Before the inserction, to control the wear of the note musical seal and the wear of the anodes
The stoplogs are pre-assembled at work shop.
1. predispose the lifting beam for the hooking with the stoplog
2. carry out the hoist of the lifting beam and its hooking with the stoplog
3. hoist the stoplog and take it on the top of the guides
4. remove eventual covers of the stoplog compartment and predispose, a provisional fencing of the
compartment
5. the entrance of the stoplog with the guides should be done with adjustments by hand carried out
by two operators directly on the element to be lowered
6. insert the stoplogs on the guides and lower it until it's easily reachable the grappling beam by an
operator and to preset its for the stop log release
7. go on with the lowering of the stoplog on the guides until it stands on the lower head
8. go on with the lowering of the beam until its automatic unhooking
9. Repeat the operations from point 5 for all elements stoplogs

INSTRUCTION FOR USE STOPLOG EXTRACTION


1. set the grappling beam ready to be hooked with the stop log
2. remove eventual covers of the stoplog compartment and predispose a provisional fencing of the
compartment
3. go on with the hoisting and positioning on the pieces of stoplog to take out
4. lower it until the hooking of the piece of stoplog
5. go on with the hoisting taking care to not to exceed the load capacity of the grappling beam
6. stop the loading when the grappling beam is recheable by the operator to predispose it for the release of
the stop log; set in the stoplogs the support system for its further laying in the suitable stoplogs storage
system
7. complete the extraction of the stoplog following the same regulations of point as above
8. position the stoplog on the damplate storing stand, pull down until it rests and the grappling beam are
completely unhooked
Hoist completely the stoplogs only when, after a first light lifting, the by-pass valve, located in the last element
of the stoplogs, is opened, allowing the flowing of the water from the embedded part to the dry one
reaching the same level in both parts.
This operation is carried out to avoid hoisting actions that could compromise the integrity and efficiency of the
stoplog and grappling beams seal elements and avoid excessive stresses during the loading.
