While creating this necklace I played with structures forming the curvy lines and connecting them with thinner wire. The centerpiece of the necklace is the wire piece that was wrapped, twisted and hammered creating a messy but experimental and sculptural outcome, and adding some dramatic contrast to the necklace, investigating the technical properties of the wire itself. necklace - silver wire 2009. inner circumference: 38 cm (15") central piece: 10 x 7 cm (4" x 3") photo by: sakrabojski

To do so, I simply connect both strands by twisting the end of the finished wire to the new wire 3 to 4 times tightly ( not to tight or you could break the wire) , trim the excess, then resume the weaving making sure to tuck the stitch inside. On the video you can see that the weave I started last week has already naturally started oxidized since I made it and it is much darker compared to the new wire. I marked the stitch with black sharpie before pulling the chain through the plate so we can keep accurate track of it and see where does it hides after pulling it.
