I recently made a tree trunk for a church play. While working on creating it I came across this recipe for paper mache, and I loved it, so I thought I would share. I've used it a couple of times now and it makes a nice strong finish that sticks well. Paper Mache 1 cup flour 1 1/2 cups water (cold or warm) 1/2 cup white school glue pinch of salt (important in humid climates to prevent mold) Place ingredients in a bowl and whisk. Paper Tree and Butterflies: Sculpt a tree of butterflies out of paper.

My husband and I have started an unconventional Christmas tree tradition. With half this year gone we're already trying to plan for this year's! This past year we based our tree on a popular paper bag craft I saw on Pinterest where you twist and cut the ends to create branches. Instead of a miniature paper bag tree I suggested we built a giant paper bag out of Kraft paper and create a life size version.

I use two paper mache recipes for the projects on this site - both recipes are cheap, and the final sculptures are as strong as wood.
