Healthy fries may sound too good to be true, but these Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries are just that! They’re air fried in just a bit of oil so they’re low in fat, yet they’re addictively crispy. They’re an easy, gluten-free side dish that cooks up in about 15 minutes!
Sweet potatoes are a favorite in my house. I prepare oven roasted sweet potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes often, and when I’m feeling really fancy I’ll make hasselback sweet potatoes. 🙂
Sweet potato fries are one of my favorite way to enjoy them, but I know they’re not the healthiest as they are deep fried in refined oils.
That’s where these Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries come in. They’re nice and crispy, and they’re much healthier because they’re air fried in just a bit of oil.
This recipe has made it possible to enjoy them a lot more often!

Recipe FAQs
Sweet potato fries in the air fryer are much healthier as they include just a small amount of heart healthy, high heat oil, such as avocado, coconut or grape seed. They’re low in fat, and there’s absolutely no trans fat.
There’s no need to soak sweet potato fries in water before air frying as they don’t contain as much starch as white potatoes. Simply toss in the oil and seasoning and air fry!
It’s very important to place the sweet potato fries in a single layer with a bit of space in between them in the air fryer so that they get nice and crispy. If the air fryer is overcrowded, the fries will become soggy.
Sweet potato fries that are about 1/4″ thick take about 13-15 minutes to cook in the air fryer.

Very good!
Thanks so much for your review!
I love how healthy the recipe is. My fries came out super floppy though. I cut them thinly and uniform, used avocado oil and followed air fryer instructions from recipe. I left them in for longer than 15m and still was very floppy. Is this how it was intended?
You mean they weren’t crisp at all? They should crisp up in the air fryer — maybe they should have been cooked a bit longer?
Soooo good! We make them at least once a week! Thank you!!
I’m so glad that you love them! 🙂
Excellent!!!
Glad you like them!
