I picked up a Hawk T-2... I know zip about it...I gather if you go with RAF your choices are black...and uh black. Are there any other schemes for the RAF other than black? If black is the only choice......what color are the intakes? They appear to be black. I can not locate a good shot of the intakes.

Markings....anything other than 32-049 from xtradecal?

Thanks,

Hi Rob,

The intakes are black inside for about a foot or so (I would need to verify the exact dimension by reference to the aircraft drawing set), after which the remainder of the intake interior is gloss light aircraft grey.

CMK make a resin seat, it's for the T.1, but applicable for the T.2.

MAV make some decals for SAAF aircraft, they're a bit pixelated, but cheap http://www.mavdecals.co.za/index.php?cPath=58 and there was a large sheet by Airframe decals for numerous Hawks http://www.1001modelkits.com/bae-hawk-model-kit/55228-bae-hawk-in-world-wide-service-1-32-airframe-aircraft-decals-32115.html

Kinetic also offer their own extra PE with some extra details (additionally to the one within the kit). There also seems a more correct decal sheet for Aussie birds to be around.

Be aware that all options on the Airframe Decals sheet for the '100 Hawks need you to scratch wing fences and source some black stencils.

Hi Andy,

The ejection seats in the RAF Hawk T.Mk.1 and T.Mk.2 are very different. The former is a MB type 10B/1 and 10B/2 (similar to the Tornado ejection seat, which is most likely what the CMK seat is based upon), whereas the latter is a lightweight MB type GB10LH1 and 10LH2 seat. The change from the heavy weight 10B series to the lightweight 10LH occurred from the Hawk Mk.65 aircraft onwards.

Cheers Derek, when I was writing it I suspected I'd probably be wrong - should've waited for you to post - but they do look mighty similar, and close enough for me.

BTW, does anybody knows good pit views of the British T2?

The Kinetic cockpit does not correspond to the British version (it has the Canadian one if my memory's right) but I've yet to see good pictures of the rear IP!?! I'm wondering if it is different or similar to the Australian one.

Thanks Derek but as far as I see, there are only views of the front pit. Am I wrong?

I am sure that you are right Thierry. The rear IP is about 90% identical, but the side consols differ a little (less in the rear cockpit). I can't find anything useful at the moment, but there must be some images on the internet somewhere? The Hawk Mk.128 - the RAF Hawk T.2 AJT - is based upon the Hawk Mk.127 LIF and 129 AJT, so the cokpit layouts will be very similar between the various AJT/LIF marks (this may provide a useful template for you - obviously, I cannot provide you with any BAE Systems data).

Thanks Derek!

You're already helping me a lot as I was mainly wondering about the position of the multifunction screens!

For sure, I understand that you cannot mix work and hobby!

Cheers
